Any reccomended console titles (360) which are v good and recent, but out long enough to be below 20 quid.

I've been feeling like a new game recently and though there are some brand new titles out now which look very good (Red Dead Redemption etc), i don't fancy paying full price for them really when i could get just as much fun from slightly older titles which have started to fall down the charts.

Saboteur has a lot of longevity to the game and is good fun. I picked it up sub 20 quid a couple of months back and still not done with it, just needed to give it a rest because of other games coming along at the time.

Joke's on them though, it's free to use so once you've found out the cheapest price, you can spite them by not clicking the provided link and just googling it.

Batman: Arkham Asylum, sir?

Overlord II is quite worthy of a look, as well.

Resonance of Fate if you're into the JRPGs. FFXIII is wank.

>Batman: Arkham Asylum

I can heartily recommend this. I'm not into batman or comic stuff at all but this game was such good fun.

That's probably less effort than just going to the shop and buying it, but still more effort than the Pirate Bay.

I looked up buzz world quiz for the ps3, 123pricecheck says cheapest price is £9.99 from gameseek. However, going to gameseek without clicking their link show the game priced at £24.99. So I had to click their link.

Which took me to a logic battery pack for the wii at £9.99. Hmm.

Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space if you like that kind of thing. Both should be around for a tenner or so. Out of everything I've played on my 360 I probably got the most fun out of these. Some people will argue one is better than the other, who fucking cares. They're both great.

Mirror's Edge is an unusual one, and is satisfying to play largely because it does things very differently to most first-person games. It has its flaws, but overall I think it's a cracking little game. Wouldn't be surprised if you could pick it up for a fiver, too.

Both the Rainbow Six: Vegas games are great. I'm generally not a fan of military/SWAT themed FPS games (they tend to emphasise realism to the detriment of gameplay) but these two are both really satisfying to play. Even better if you can convince a mate to buy it and blast through co-op together. Should cost next to nothing on ebay.

I just realised you said "recent" so maybe all of the above suggestions are useless? Apologies if so.

First post of this thread, but I consider anything from the past five years 'recent'. Mainly because my PC can't run anything from then :/

Mirrors edge is great when you're charging along fluidly leaping from bit to bit and pulling everything off.

It gets fucking annoying whne you keep missing ONE jump.

Also, much like the first Portal, it felt like an extended Demo.

There aren't many genuinely tricky jumps in the game. The thing most people get fucked off with is the combat, which is a bit ropey to be fair. Play it on easy, the only thing it changes is the combat.

>Also, much like the first Portal, it felt like an extended Demo.
Very true, I wouldn't have been amused if I'd paid full retail for it.

Aesthetically it's similar to Portal too, and they both have a song called "Still Alive" at the end.

I'll shut up now.

Conspiracy.

I like ME overall though. Yes the combat didn't really work, especially in the place where you HAD to fight and couldn't just jump down an air vent or whatever.

I hope they return to the Universe eventually.

Edge certainly does need a sequel, I for one wouldn't mind a more sandboxy city to fuck around in, a la Assassin's Creed.

It's interesting to see so much praise for Mirror's Edge here when it received quite poor reviews on release. Underrated?

If you check the metacritic response to the game, there's a lot of >90s in there, so I wouldn't say it was that poorly received to begin with. Most of the negative reviews and comments on forums tend to fall into one of the following, anyway:

1/ The combat is frustrating as fuck at first if you're playing it on normal, which I imagine most people do.

2/ It's an FPS game but you can't shoot everything. You can't even carry big guns with you! WTF GAME SUCKS

3/ It's pretty short, 10 hours or so.

4/ This isn't a criticism so much as an observation - it really shines on repeat playthroughs. It's a game that encourages you to play it through more than once, and adopt a speedrun mentality. This really isn't something reviewers are capable of rating, since they'll typically get a day or two and a single playthrough at best per game.

Anyway, you can get it for £4.54 delivered from Play and a similar price from Amazon on either console platform, so it's not much of an investment to find out whether I'm talking complete shit or not.

What shoulod you play it on? Hard or easy? I heard the game is very liner - almost super mario bros. type linear

It is pretty linear. You may as well play it on easy; the point of the game is getting around which is the same whatever difficulty it's on. The hard/normal/easy mainly changes how easy is it to get shot, which doesn't really feel congruent as the game.

It is as linear as Super Mario Bros (or more so... there's no warp pipes). It's literally point A to B to C with minimal fucking around. It should be stressed that it's essentially a simple platform game in first person and if you expect anything else you'll be disappointed.

For the record the big difference between normal and hard is that "runner vision" is disabled on hard, so the game doesn't give you any visual hints where to go. This will drive you insane if you've not played the game through at least a couple of times.

Mirrors Edge is a fantastic technical demo, but it's a bad game. Honestly, save yourself the money and play the demo. You'll get as much fun out of the demo as you would the whole game.

>>5432

If anything I thought there were too many guns in the game, it makes it too easy.

I'm going to try Victoria 2 (I still feel like pinching myself that we got a sequel to this) and then I'll try Mirror's Edge seeing as so many thing it's good.

Late to the party, but adding another voice in favour of Mirror's Edge. When you start getting good at it and being able to string really fluid runs together, it is a brilliant game.

Playing the main story through is cool, but it's really just practice. The time trials and speedruns are the real point of it all, I reckon.
