2661 Tom McCarthy
I very much enjoyed Tom McCarthy's novel Remainder (protagonist becomes millionaire through court settlement and decides to spend his money staging reenactments of moments in his past in order to recapture that feel).
I notice McCarthy's as-yet unreleased novel C is on the Booker Prize long list. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/gallery/2010/jul/27/booker-prize?CMP=twt_gu Sounds interesting: set 1898-1922 and connected somehow with the development of radio broadcasting.

Anyway, I liked this recent essay of his in the Guardian:
Technology and the novel, from Blake to Ballard http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2010/jul/24/tom-mccarthy-futurists-novels-technology
