I'm not much of a pie eater, but I'm very fussy over the kind of pies I have when I want one. Down here, it's rare to find a nice steak pie which doesn't have kidney or some other kind of offal in it. Pukka pies do a normal steak pie and are large, but I don't like pies with too much pastry.

My favourite pies ever are Bells Steak & Gravy, what's /nom/'s?

P.S. Does anyone remember how greasy football pies used to be?

A bakery in my hometown used to make glorious Scotch Pies, with mashed potato and some beans on top. I've never seen anywhere else do them like that, they were perfect.

Pic related, couldn't find pic of the actual pies described above :|.

If you're ever in Lancashire you need to find yourself a butter pie. It's a heart attack in a silver tray but so delicious http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butter_pie

PROTIP: if making a pie then cans of condensed soup only watered down a little help make a good 'gravy' for in your pie e.g. chunks of chicken and veg and a can of condensed mushroom soup with a little milk or cream added = NOMNOMNOMNOM

Oh yeah, and my favourite pastry contained savoury dish is the mighty pasty - beef, onion, swede, potato, salt & lots of pepper, a small knob of butter.

In fact I may make pasties again this weekend.

I should probably get some sleep... I saw the "headline" of your post (Pies Anonymous) and just thought "Huh, there really is a self help group for everything these days..."
