There was a .gs radio once, wasn't there? The thread advertising it had an image of pyramid boombox, I think. What happened to it?

It wasn't automated, someone had to run it and there was no one willing to put in the time. We're all usually quite busy. There have been lots of boards and ideas that didn't work out because of that. We're a works night out and a bout of the flu away from being totally unmanned most of the time, never mind having the man power to run a radio station and take requests.

It actually came up and was casually discussed relatively recently with user input mentioned, but users taking shifts would probably end up with Bear Force One and Kunt and the Gang songs on repeat for hours which would defeat the purpose really. There was a Glasgow lad said he would do a metal set and take requests, with others chipping in ideas, but it'll be at the end of a long to do list and in the "maybe, if we can be bothered column" of maroon's roadmap, if it's even there at all.

It's a bug which has been brought up in another thread and explained before here >>12487.

It's not necessarily a bug with .gs, but the way it embeds YT videos being a bit outdated.

I really don't know if it's something that can be fixed entirely, your best bet is to disable embeds and use links if it's becoming a real problem for you until maroon gets around to implementing a more permanent fix.

I keep meaning to ask about this. It seems that the entire 02 network, or at least the section I connect to, is banned? For a long time it was "Another range bites the dust. Another range bites the dust. And another one gone, and another one gone...", but now it's (from memory) "Ban evasion and extended whinging in /shed/.

All I want to do is post on the bus lads, can we get it unbanned?

The most recent range (and indeed country) bans have taken the form of redirects to external websites. If it's a raid we'll send them back to where they came from (as best as we can tell) or if it's a lone-wolf miscreant there'll probably be something musical, maybe on YTMND. A personal favourite of mine: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youare

I raise this now because I wonder whether we might need multimedia support on the banned page.

Has something changed on /*/? Whenever I load it today Firefox starts lagging insanely and the CPU jumps from the usual 5-10% up to 30-35%, and the memory usage triples for as long as the page is loading, which incidentally takes ages for some reason.

I turned off Youtube embeds and removed any addons I've installed since I last remember loading /*/ with no issues. Is there something else causing this?

I work in the industry so there might be some bias in the conclusions I occasionally leap to but if that's happening while loading britfa and only on britfa it looks like some kind of attack happening, either through this site or through something it loads remotely (jquery, doubleclick, god knows what else); that looks pretty much exactly the behaviour I'd expect out of a heap spray.

If you haven't already, install noscript and start allowing different script domains for this page until the behaviour triggers. That'll at least give you some idea of what's up.

Sage because I just realized that this is more of a /g/ reply than a /shed/ one.

You're probably launching a fuckload of embeds, each of which can add a fuckload of overhead. To get an idea of how bad the problem might be, go load the following URL, put on a brew, and see what the numbers look like when you come back, assuming it doesn't crash.

I repeat, you may need to get a cuppa while this loads. It's very resource-intensive.

Firefox has some overhead per-document. Each of the embeds you're loading is a separate document and causes that overhead regardless of whether the embedded player loads or not. There's a fix in Fx41 which shares identical resources across documents, and that hits the production channel in late September.

I believe that the mods are overpowered in their ability to delete posts. Genuine criticism gets stifled and it's unfair that the poster who went to the trouble of making the post, gets his work removed. Now I can understand why you would want to delete raid posts or ones that contain illegal content, but recently seeing a bunch of perfectly acceptable posts disappear because the mods didn't agree with them is just abuse of their powers. There has been drama in the past over deleted threads and it's annoying I know but this is a discussion we need to have.

Yeah.

Look, we do care about the quality of the board, and the users experience. The stuff 49c0b3 gives as evidence of lying, I read as us not being telepathically connected and not agreeing on our interpretations of the same data. Not even the same data; we're not omniscient. Yes, there have been female mods but I can tell you for a fact they're not the ones who have banned people for being egregiously sexist. Maybe because they're smart enough not to do that. Generally, if someone has posted something potentially banworthy that has offended me personally, I wait and let another mod deal with it, because I don't want to be unreasonable.
Of course we fucking contradict ourselves sometimes, we're human beings.
This thread is complaining both that we spy too much on you and simultaneously don't spy enough. That's absurd, but whatever course of action we take, someone is going to bitch about it. I have better things to do than spy on you; for example, picking my nose. Masturbating. Watching paint dry. The list goes on.
Simultaneously, if I didn't believe in the value of anonymity, I wouldn't be involved in running an anonymous imageboard. For those reasons, ban lengths are fairly arbitrary and mostly hinge on how much I want to get back on with whatever I'm doing at the time. I might flick through what you've posted recently to try and determine if you're just permanently trolling and then I may make some reference to something you've posted in the ban reason. If you think there's some sort of IRC clique going on then you're outdated as fuck regarding what goes on in there. Feel free to join and see for yourself.
Yes, reporting something to individual mods in IRC will get a faster response simply because when we get IRC notifications, we'll see them as soon as we sit down at our computers and before we get around to checking the reports page. I check the reports page occasionally, but IRC makes shit flash on my desktop so I look at that right away.
If you've been acting consistently like a twat then your ban reason will reflect that, but we probably won't publicise the fact to the general userbase. Unless you're a really *massive* twat in which case we'll probably make fun of you.

Incidentally, the number of active mods has dwindled recently so if you're confident you're not a massive knob and have something positive to contribute, get on the IRC and get involved.

People will whinge about you, too.

I'm struggling to justify in my own mind what purpose this font has for existing or why it being on /iq/ is even a thing, as It's illegible.

iPad 2 IOS 8/Safari, fyi.

I have also noticed that on Firefox that hover preview intermittently creates a persitant and unmovable, fully functional post which can be replied to, reported, etc, rather than just previewing the post and it vanishing afterwards. I haven't been able to replicate this in the last 5 minutes so I've given up, but I've never lied to you before.
