Lads, that could generously be called a glancing blow. It wasn't even a full-blooded jab either. Whichever way you slice it, something is not right. A man who is fit to participate in a professional boxing match should not be hitting the canvas to a shot like that. Either he's taken a dive for one reason or another (money/terrified about getting hit hard for health reasons) or he was in such a bad way that even a powderpuff glance can end his night and he should never have been granted a license in the first place.

Maybe because due to past performance, general ability and reliability on setting up and scoring chances ON MORE THAN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, Rooney is an all round better player. Heskey brought nothing spectacular either.

This, Heskey was supposedly Rooney's favoured strike partner. He was only there because Rooney was being selected to start. Rooney proceeds to be shit, nullifying the point of Heskey, who despite everything was one of the few players putting in a performance on the pitch, and came in handy defensively given the problems with crocked central defenders. Why the fuck Capello kept playing Rooney, despite the terrible performance I'll never understand.
