5961 Saving with a gf
Hi there. So me and my long-term gf are planning to take a year out in aus/nz. We were thinking about opening one bank account so that we both set-up a direct debit into as a % of our salaries e.g I might pay in £500pm and she may pay in £400pm. The money would go towards the year out.

As long as we keep track of who put what in and when, are there any disadvantages to opening a shortish term (~1 year) joint account with a partner for the sole purpose of saving for a joint venture?

Has anybody got any advice on what accounts to go for, or any anecdotal stories on how this might go horribly wrong etc? I trust her very much and it is extremely unlikely that she would run off with the money or pull any stunts like that.

Let me be the cunt who points out that nobody ever goes into anything like this without trusting the other party or thinking they'll run off etc. Still happens.

Open separate accounts, it's less hassle in all sorts of ways.

The best deals on saving accounts and ISAs are listed at the links below, along with some good advice on which product to choose and how best to use it.

I don't understand what you gain from opening the joint account. Even if you consider the risk to be minimal, it's a risk that has no reward.

Just so that we have one account to draw funds from whilst over there. Also it's psychologically nice to see our money piling up in one account towards what would be a trip of a lifetime.

You'll want to use a specific credit or debit card whilst abroad, because most banks charge excessive fees for foreign spending.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/travel-credit-cards

It's also a good idea to have separate cards on separate accounts, so you're not stranded without funds if one of you loses a card or is a victim of fraud.

Dear overly zealous young upstart mod, The teary face is a time honored and dearly loved Britfa.gs maymay, as much as getting back to quggins, fun in the london tower, THE SHADOW, SNEAKY SNEAKY or PISSKIDNEYS. If you ban for that then you might as well ban for calling searchfag a shitskin.

Pic related; it's the dog.

Not really, no. Most of the Britchan lads left here were mods on Britchan as well as mods here so they hung around, but the rest left for more accommodating waters or life got in the way. There are still a couple, but .gs is not Britchan.

I guarantee you that whatever preconception you have about the userbase and the site is wrong.

It does matter because the creation myth in this place decides it's current role. There is a prevailing line of thought to put aside the old Britchan traditions by the reformists lefties on here but they can't really change the fact it was spawned from a racist website dominated by paedophiles.

Britchan was a cheesy imageboard with a much younger demographic than here. This establishment is unlike any other, even if the other two of you are basically cunts.

I have my first book coming out soon, I am immensely happy about it, and the high standard of discussion in this madhouse has actually quietly helped to hone my writing skills to the point where some nutjob is now chucking money at my usual faecal scrawls on a cell wall.

Right well it has been about 16 hours now

Thus far the poll is telling me what I always presumed, that we have an older user base, if anything much more so then I imagined (50% over 30). So all the recent conjecture thrown around in a few threads that the userbase isn't a bunch of aging old guard, seems to be crap.

I must admit I am surprised just how few teenage posters we have (17%), I'm intrigued if this is a part of chan culture in general getting older (and possibly dying out), or if this is unique to Britfa.gs, as I think the typical perception is that image boards are a 'teenage thing' and this data obviously flies in the face of that.

16 hour mark.

That argument is tripe in that anyone who isn't a student is just as likely to not post on the weekend.
It was a shit load more objective then you making up justifications for why students wouldn't post to justify your bias, and there is no way to objectively perform this test so this is the closet it can get, face it unilad the data strongly suggests you are out numbered.

>>6013

I wondered if the result would be corrupted by the very simple act of announcing them. I don't think pinning to the front page would help, maliciousness will attack things they think people care about the only way of doing this was in the stumble across way I did it, and take a 'passive' reading.

This is obviously junk data at this point. which is a shame because it is hard to tell if the student bastard numbers are genuine or just some dick trying to prove me wrong.

Right so 3 times more student filled in the survey after the results had been announced in a 2 hour period then in the previous 16 hours? in a time period where only 2 other posters in the largest demographic that far filled in and 13 underage posters appeared out of the wood work to become the largest demographic. I think it is safe to say it is junk at that point.
