8290 Weed or not?
Found this in my son's laundry today, and before I ask him what it is, I just wanted to make sure. I am not really opposed to smoking weed, but this find is a bit odd...

There is the fainest hint of weed smell. You really have to get close and take a sniff to smell it. The overall smell is that of a freshly cut grass. So I am not too sure as to what it is. I never smoked weed, seen it or handled it, so I wanted to know what you guys thought.

I have been Googling, and it just makes me more worried. I found this other thing called Spice, but it doesn't look like it.

Any ideas? Is it real weed?

It looks like shitty bush weed, yeah.

It's not spice, anyway.

It's weed, probably skunk, though I'm not really enough into the stuff to be that sure on the latter.

Unless you're lying and you're actually going to tell your son off, in which case, it's just tea leaves.

I am not mad at him. I was just concerned at what this was. I would have been more at ease if it smelled like all the strong smelling stuff I sometimes smell when I am out and about.

>>8291
Thank you.

I will ask him shortly. Better safe than sorry.

Weed, especially cheap weed, doesn't necessarily smell that strong as is. If you're smelling weed out in the world, it's most likely because it's being smoked, which obviously smells a lot more. Like otherlad says, it's likely just cheap, not very good product. I wouldn't expect it to stink.

It definitely looks like weed. The compressed appearance of the bud, the lack of smell, the brown colour and the bit of string all suggest that it's cheap imported stuff.

Yer son's a bumder who was trying to spruce up the washing machine by chucking a bit of bouquet garni in it.

I'm surprised it's still profitable to sell weed that shitty. You'd probably have to import it as there'd be no point wasting growing space on that in this country. It even has the mandatory piece of thread from being bundled up for travel. Looking at it gives me nostalgia.

Unless it was some shitty clipping he was given for free, he's being ripped off. You should have a word with him about market value and the trustworthiness of other teenagers. Get him some of the better stuff if he wants to smoke it, there's plenty of it around.

The reason it doesn't smell that strong is because it's dead and all the THC will have oxidised. Whoever sold him it, did so knowing it had been in a drawer for at least a year.

Or, it has been lying in his drawer for that amount of time and he hasn't touched it, meaning he didn't enjoy it very much.

Either way, it's ruined.

YABOS

Your son need a lock on their door if they are going to get to make the same stupid decisions needed to grow as a person like the rest of us did. Be honest it wasn't in the laundry you raided the room under the premise that it needed cleaning didn't you?

If you bring it up in the way you want to, you'll drive them away and they will never trust you again. Do you really want that? what does DH think about it?

Some of the leaf shapes look similar, and there appears to be a little marple/green colouring on some of the less dead parts, but i remain skeptical that it's marijuana. If it is, it's very low quality - I've heard 'Tai Stick' is strung with thread.

Could it not just be a bundle of plant matter? It looks not exactly similar in form but in crispness and colour to this pic, once it's dried thoughourly. I've found some of this before so it might not be that unlikely your son may have done the same.

Burn some and find out =/

Oh my mother was awful, but far too narcissistic to get involved in my inner life. This was never her shtick.

>>8305

Bingo bango, and working on the greatest fears that most overbearing mothers have, that their children might outgrow their usefulness and want for them. Not that there isn't a deeper point I'm trying to make which is teenagers need room to grow, explore and discover if they are going to be good adults, and you will just push them away if you come at them with a 'I know better' position.

It can't be that hard to think what it is like for this teenlad and draw an understanding, you lived through it. The more disappointing idea to me is that someone should feel they can come into these sacred halls of discourse and ask this shit, OP is probably someone I will never understand.

Is OP coming at him with an 'I know better' position? Seems more like they found the weed and aren't really sure what to make of it, especially since they don't know much about weed.

Well they by not knowing about it have somewhat shown their hand as to being the sort of person who has lived a life where they don't really know anything about such things. And by feeling they should ask us first showed a contempt for asking their child directly openly and honestly.

People who come with an intention of understanding and trust in their children about what is going on in their lives don't go asking these sorts of questions before asking them directly.

Maybe they just want to make sure they're correctly informed before going to their child about it instead of risking being completely wrong about what it is they've found? It may have turned out to be hops, spice or krokodil for all they know.

Well that's my entire point isn't it. They don't need to be 'correctly informed' if they just bloody asked their child.

Would you have gone "Yeah dad it's a bit of weed." if you were a teenager and you'd accidentally left a bag in your jeans pocket?

I know I fucking wouldn't. I'd have lied through my teeth and said I'd no idea, it must be one of my mates, they put it there for a laugh. I know, as an adult, my parents weren't thick. They knew I was smoking a bit of hash. But was 16 year old me like fuck going to admit it.
