426479 Name of the song?
Just placed my first ever proper bet. Come on Darude, don't let me down!

These seem like suspiciously good odds in the internet meme campaign era of Boaty McBoatface et al.

I genuinely don't think PaddyPower are aware of the Darude-Sandstorm meme or the probable internet brigading that will occur to get people to vote for Finland

OP here, I turned off the 'variable odds' option too, so even if PP decide something is up and slash the odds, my bet will still be at 200/1. If this comes off I will be laughing

Good tip. I just put £20 on at 100/1 at Ladbrooks.

Put 15 quid e/w for it to finish in the top 4. About five grand if it comes off.

Was very tempted to whack £30 straight on it to win at 250/1.

I've only ever bet once before and it was a tenner on Nibali to win the tour de france that he won at about 200/1.

Brigading will only get you so far, because half the points are awarded by jury vote. Finland's song is completely mediocre, so I think they're fairly priced at ~500/1.

Cheers for the tip. If it comes in I'll buy Purps and co. a dominoes.

Shame Darude couldn't make it more of a party tune:

The track is always Sandstorm.

I did once think about setting the video against the full length version of this. It worked better than expected.

I honestly wasn't aware that Darude ever did anything besides that one track Sandstorm. I always considered him a typical one-hit wonder.

Oh nothing much just making money off of a cultural event taking place in a country under apartheid.

They you? both seem like wankers. "Fuck off, snowflake" is hardly the work the Poet Laureate. Apologies, it was "do fuck off, snowflake", incase you weren't sure whether the poster was completely insufferable or not.

I'm really surprised Israel won last year. The song was probably the quirkiest which worked in its favour, but I genuinely thought that most of Europe had such a low opinion of Israel that they would avoid voting for it. Maybe it's because I've had a lot of experience with members of Momentum/BDS folks, but I guess the general population isn't as anti-Zionist as I would have expected.

Because they are usually complete shite.

A lot of acts get one hit on a fluke. They just happen to have that one song that is either well mixed and arranged, cleverly marketed, or noteworthy for other reasons, but true musical talent is marked by consistency and the ability to create a whole row of songs that are a success on their own merit.

The mistake you made is assuming that the type of person who watches and cares enough to vote on Eurovision has any kind of overlap whatsoever with people who are politically aware of Israel and its affairs. If there was a Venn diagram, it would be two entirely separate circles.

To be fair, a lot of really excellent songwriters and performers end up as one hit wonders through the vagaries of the music industry. Nena were a brilliant band and had two number one albums in Germany, but we only know them for 99 Red Balloons. Trevor Horn is arguably the greatest pop producer of all time, but he has only had one hit single as a performer, Video Killed The Radio Star. Soft Cell are remembered as one-hit wonders in Australia, but they had a long career over here. The correlation between fame and talent is pretty weak and lots of talented people just never get a second bite of the cherry.

U Wot m8? Voting has always been politically influenced on Eurovision. The UK's vote started seriously tanking after we went to war with Iraq post-9/11.

Yesterday you lads had me to throw away a tenner on this and the picture of Greta eating hummus wrong influenced me into eating some myself before bed which, in turn, led to heartburn and a poorly tummy for most of the day.

Is this all part of your masterplan?
