Mœbius does Heavy Metal
Jean Giraud, also known as Mœbius or Gir is an "artist's artist". Not all that well known to the general public, but among his fans are Ridley Scott, Fellini, Paulo Coelho and William Gibson. He worked on or directly inspired the visuals in things like Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, Tron, The Abyss, Star Wars, Space Jam and Alien. His most famous works are Arzach and The Airtight Garage, the latter of which made use of Michael Moorcock's character Jerry Cornelius, who is in turn an incarnation of Joseph Campbell's Eternal Champion as a Pierrot figure. Other incarnations of the same figure can be seen in Preacher (Jesse Custer), Hellblazer (John Constantine) and The Invisibles (Gideon Stargrave). Gideon is an exception but the initials JC pop up an awful lot in comics.
These are the pages Giraud wrote and illustrated for Heavy Metal
