Bump to get a spoiler image off the visible page.
I posted this comic as my girlfriend and I were discussing it, but I can't remember why. I can't decide if I like the art style or think it's incredibly lazy (it seems to be paint-over photographs and the photoshop "cutout" filter for the backgrounds).

I agree about the style, it's like a shit version of rotoscoping.

It's a nicely whimsical sort of story, all the same. Probably Gaiman's best attribute.

This is probably the best use of Marvel characters I've ever read.
Which is a bit silly when you consider that the story is a pseudo-nostalgia for their usual selves.

Never really 'got' this comic. I mean it has an interesting core idea but Christ it just goes on and on with little rhyme nor reason and its nauseating art. Killing Joke is much better.

It does seem that way doesn't it. Although I guess the medium maybe attracts the sorts of people who might have fringe interests anyway? We do seem to produce the best comics writers regardless though.

I enjoy it for it's unusual look at the psyche's of the various Batman characters. It takes the premise of Killing Joke a lot further. Plus Dave McKean's artwork is fantastic. I'd post his magnum opus "Cages" but it's 450-odd pages.

Actually just had a look and it's 32 issues so might be a bit of a hassle for you to stick up even if you did have it. Otherwise would be happy to read any other Moore bits(maybe not watchmen just coz I've read it a few times) you might have. Or any other Ellis or Morrison stuff.

Or just like good stuff in general, also just to say thanks for uploading all this lovely comicky goodness. Happy New Year Comiclad!

"Mid-21st century America doesn't have much to offer Dana Stevens, but there's plenty for her to live for inside Warriors of Jarvath, the world's most popular full-immersion online game. In the real world, she's a tamale delivery girl who still lives with her mom, but inside the game she's an elite assassin. When she gets the drop on King Heremoth, a celebrity non-player character, she thinks she's finally got a shot at fame. But when she slays Queen Fendra, the King's reaction is disconcertingly realistic. Something's amiss in Jarvath, and the effects may reverberate well beyond the boundaries of the game."

"For a million millennia the world has cracked and convulsed under the indomitable mob of the orc. Savage, bloodthirsty creatures, they are without number, staining nearly every corner of the globe. The mighty Orc Tzar, newest leader of the mob, marches ever north to find the lost organ of a forgotten god. Only a lone one-eyed orc with a mysterious gift can find the key to breaking the cycle forever."
