What are you all playing at the minute? I'm currently on Lego LOTR.

I'm not so sure of the aesthetic choices in this game. They make everything realistic except the stuff that can be interacted with, which is made of lego. So you get stuff like this happening. Also the way they all only speak lines ripped from the movies is a bit strange.

On the other hand, this is one of the better LOTR games I've played. It's not easy to turn a story revolving around two midgets walking to a mountain into a videogame and they tried their best.

If a friend or two of yours is getting it then yes, otherwise wait.

Right now I mostly play Dota2, last game as a random drop I got a legendary mount for Luna - worth £6 on the steam marketplace! Going to sell it and buy a game with the cash.

Any of you lads got Farming Simulator 2013?

They have it on PSN for £10.79 and I'm keen to give it a punt, but a tenner is my whole game budget for April since it is my birthday on the 17th and the missus has banned me from buying anything too expensive, so buyers remorse must be avoided at all costs.

The reviews I've read vary from shit to good, so I'm looking for an unbiased perspective. Cheers.

Nah, Euro Truck Simulator 2 was great, Farming Simulator 2013 is a bit naff. ETS2 having the in-game radio streaming was a master stroke. Listening to the radio stations local to wherever you are in game, while eating a Ginsters pasty and drinking Bulldog Energy. Living the dream.

Bit naff doesn't sound too bad, but it doesn't sound good either.

One of the reviews said there was a lot of boring paperwork in the game and not nearly enough actual farming. Is this accurate?

Finished Persona 3 FES today. Fucking brilliant game. Spent well over 100 hours on it, and it only started to drag at the very end because I had overlevelled so the final bosses ended up being a cakewalk. The scenes after the final boss are heartbreaking, after spending nearly five whole days of my life with these characters.

Moving onto the expansion/epilogue, which is a bit weird so far. Seems like a straight up dungeon crawl with a lot of grind, as it lacks the visual novel elements of the main game. Still, need to do it for the sake of being a completionist.

Grab it on PSN, it's probably my favourite game ever.

Deus Ex.
Lads, all this shite with terrorism, surveillance and insane amounts of lies — was it like that back then in 2000? I don't remember much. I assume it could have been extrapolated, after all the ECHELON and COINTELPRO date back to 60s; first CCTV protests date to 1995-something. Otherwise it looks like a bloody snarky prophecy. Whaddya reckon?

The game is great though. I don't even mind the graphics.

Started it yesterday. I did start Persona 3: The Answer, but got bored of it quickly as it just felt like Tartarus with a lot more grind and without the social/school life part of the game to balance it out. Just read the synopsis online. Not played much of 4, but already I'm preferring Yosuke and Chie to Junpei and Yukari.

>Everyone (who is a pleb) plays CoD
>4 of these people kill themselves
>SEE! WE WARNED YOU!

Hmm, yes, quite. I really don't want to get into it more, even though I do.

But why do people only talk about shooty games when they talk of "violent video games"? Oh, you shot 11 people that round? So. Fucking. What? I've wiped out battalions of soldiers this weekend alone, some burned, some bled, others burst before they even knew what was happening, and do you know something? I didn't see single one of their faces. I wasn't even killing people, just starting fires and scoring points. Seriously, if CoD turns you into some kind of neo-Nazi crusader, then I'm a 21st century Chuikov.

The second I can get my hands on a fully automatic Mechanised army unit, there's going to be hell to pay for... err, like that one bully and my year 10/11 maths teacher... yeah, a world of hurt coming for those two.

jk GCHQ plz no black bag

P.S. Ubisoft don't know what they're doing.

I've been playing Mario Kart 8 all weekend with the missus. She was only into shooter really until I got her into Dark Souls and the Minecraft and now she is playing this with me and she thinks it the best thing since Quake.

I think she is a keeper, but I digress.

Anyway, Mario Kart 8 is easily the best in the franchise, for my money. They've completely redone a lot of iconic tracks for the modern era like Rainbow Road. It is visually stunning for a Wii U game and the gameplay is par with the best of the best of racing games.

However, they've removed the arenas from Battle Mode which removes a large element of the couch co-op for me, because it is empty a lot of the time on the tracks online with 12 people, never mind 2 or 3 on local. I wouldn't grudge paying a fiver for them, but they really should have been in there in the first place.

Also, http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=229607

Wii U's fastest selling game, 2nd on the UK top 40. Impressive considering the general lack of two shits given about Nintendo here.

I feel like the Wii U is by far the most enjoyable of the "next gen" consoles. However, because it can't watch you while you sleep or splatter HD organs onto your screen it doesn't get as much respect.

It would have benefited from the sort of marketing campaign the Wii got. They brought it on themselves a bit.

I respect their business model in general, they are the only company that publish games that have any real quality control and they are very anti-DLC which is refreshing. Their games consistently get 80+ and they are widely recognised as the best company to work for, but they don't advertise aggressively.

Iwata is just stubborn and will not bend his vision. I get it, but integrity doesn't always translate to sales.

They put the gaming media's backs up by giving them the middle finger too, which has resulted in a new fad of "Nintendoom" as one lad on the other place called it among the vloggers, et al, because Nintendo doesn't pander to them and send them free stuff, unlike the parasitic worm that is super awesome and kind EA! Thanks for the free games, Mr Wilson!

Recently, I've noticed them putting up directs on youtube more but I only seen an advert for MK8 on Thursday. If it wasn't for the Youtube Direct and 4chan's /v/ fuelling the hype train for it I wouldn't have know about the free game deal either.

When GTA V was close to release you couldn't move for marketing for it. Bus banners, the lot. It was almost invasive.

I understand why Nintendo don't do it, I appreciate as an informed consumer, but I'm not the one they need to win over. CoD kids think it is childish, when Wonderful 101 is probably that hardest and most fulfilling game I've played all year. They need to work on their image, is my point.

I have read nothing but horror about Watch Dogs. It is putting me off buying it. My mates tend to ask me about games for some reason and buy based on whether I say it looks like a good deal and I told them to wait till it is about 20 quid.

It is averaging between 4 and 5 for user scores on Metacritic which is worrying also. Definitely a what and see. Assassins creed had a shaky start and a blinding sequel, so maybe it'll come good.

The thing that pisses me off the most about watch_dogs is how it repeats the main mission dialogue every time you boot up the game. Some of them are 30 second phone calls but sometimes it can get as bad as 3 phone calls and a birds eye view of the city in neon. I just want to play the game and fuck about.

I just shut the game off when it repeated main mission dialogue after playing for about an hour doing side missions.

That sort of thing is bollocks in an open world game. It's bad enough I'm not allowed to knock out civilians with a profile I dislike. Sometimes I'm not that much of a bastard and not want to shoot them in the head.

Game is not as bad as people say but it's clearly unfinished and it's obvious some marketing person said it should be more assassin's creed than something a little more innovative. I would have stopped playing this game if it didn't have the profiler and voyeuristic gameplay.

I was massively disappointed with Watch_Dogs. It was fairly apparent a while ago that it wouldn't live up to the hype, but I still thought it'd be good, especially after Assassin's Creed IV being very fun. But the game is so mediocre. The city feels lifeless, driving is floaty, the physics are poor, shooting has no oomph. Free roaming isn't great, it's alright but the hacking isn't interestingly implemented, so it's nowhere near as fun to mess around in as any of the 3D GTA games or Just Cause or Saint's Row etc. Story is very generic as well, and the game takes itself way too seriously.

Worth £20 maybe, not as bad as a lot of people are saying and the free roaming is kind of fun, but it has not lived up to the hype. Might end up like the Assassin's Creed series - ambitious first game that ended up being disappointing, but then the sequels develop the gameplay more until it's something better.

I don't know if the link is in this thread, but someone posted a link to an archived thread in the other place where a Watch_Dogs dev talks about how much of a clusterfuck it was.

e.g. they tried to put in train tracks that turned at 90 degrees, when they got forced to fix it they didn't even bother taking the old tracks out so you can see the 90 degree turn somewhere. There was another one where the guy who made the thread got asked to design a dive bar with a biker theme interior, which the studio then put in the middle of a nice area with seated parasols outside.

I have been playing a spot of Nethack recently and despite a good decade of playing it on and off I'm still no better at it. The problem seems to be that after clearing out the Gnomish Mines, which for years beat me, and getting to the Player Level to get the Player Quest, the game thereafter shits on me.
Are any of you experienced enough at this Roguelike enough to offer any useful tips?
