Poppy outrage seems to be starting earlier each year.
|>>|| No. 61799
People are mad because it looks like a Christmas tree. It probably is the laziest tree to do; it's just a cone.
|>>|| No. 61802
Lad. That's not the crack we're interested in anymore.
>SHE SENT UNSOLICITED NUDES OF HERSELF TO A WHATSAPP GROUP
|>>|| No. 61804
Well thank goodness a young woman who said something daft is having her life torn to bits, I really can't sleep soundly unless the total amount of misery in the world has increased over a 24 hour period.
|>>|| No. 61806
I bet she'd be screaming for a white man to get fired if he'd said anything deemed offensive.
|>>|| No. 61807
This. It's the inevitable consequence of what happens when the bubble you're living in comes into contact with the real world.
If you haven't realised by the age of 20 that it isn't wise to post something inflammatory a couple of weeks before armistice Day from a work related Twitter account then there isn't much hope for you. Oh well, I'm sure the daughter of millionaires will somehow manage to cope.
|>>|| No. 61808
The Mail and Telegraph reported this story in order to push their narrative and make people talk about it ad nauseum, but we saw through their little game instantly. We were far too smart to waste our time generating sound and fury by hashing out the same tired discussion points. Well done lads.
|>>|| No. 61812
The greater irony of all this is that it's this kind of reaction to stepping out of line over Poppy-geddon day that has people buying White Poppies and looking sideways at the British Legion, which causes further hysterical keyboard smashing from the kind of people who are upset about this story.
The suggestion that it's okay to rip into someone's entire life because they were grossly wrong about something is fucking horrendous, far more so than anything she posted. If this sort of thing continues to be deemed an appropriate response to dissent then we might as well adopt China's Social Credit System and be done with the pretense. "You were ignorant about the First World War several weeks prior to Armistice Day? Enjoy perpetual unemployment and we'll be emailing these nude photos you took to your dad for the next 18 months."
Oh, this old chestnut, the idea that if my opposite thinks something is fine, I don't care if something like that happens to them. If that's where your standards lie then why care in the first place? You clearly concede you have no ethics or morals of your own.

>THE SUGGESTION THAT IT'S OKAY TO RIP INTO SOMEONE'S ENTIRE LIFE BECAUSE THEY WERE GROSSLY WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING
Heaven forbid someone makes a monumental arse out of themselves and they get the piss taken out of them.
|>>|| No. 61814
It's not just having the piss taken now is it? It's a witch hunt on a grand scale.
|>>|| No. 61816
It's an official communication channel of an organisation, and she's used it to post personal views.
Any employer can class that as gross misconduct now, and they would have classed it as gross misconduct twenty years ago.
This is the problem with Twitter, it's so instantaneous that anyone can post something to a company or organisations twitter account with no chance for either themselves or another staff member to have a second thought.
See also, Thameslink mentioning poundland in a derogatory way in a really poor attempt at a joke.
Years ago this would never have happened, in 2018 you've got some incompetent kid with a media studies degree thrust into the position of writing communications with the company name at the top which could be seen by millions.
|>>|| No. 61817
Where in the repercussions for "gross misconduct" does it say it's ok for a twitter mob to start sending revenge porn to her family?
|>>|| No. 61819
>What exactly is disproportionate about the response?
The twitter mob and revenge porn was part of the response. Goalposts are firmly where they were to begin with. You're being intentionally disingenuous.

>See also, Thameslink mentioning poundland in a derogatory way in a really poor attempt at a joke.
To be fair this isn't just incompetence, it's also often conscious strategy.
See: All the big fast-food chains trying to make their twitter accounts into characters. So Wendy's does sassy replies, Burger King and Pizza Hut fight, and whatever. It's all very unprofessional and ugly and stupid but it makes for effective advertising by keeping those companies on people's minds. For all those reasons I think we should stone the people who came up with it.
|>>|| No. 61821
I don't understand why anyone would defend her or the response to it. her actions beget the response.
|>>|| No. 61822
It's because it's been reported by the likes of the Daily Mail. We've got some warped cognitive dissonance on display.
|>>|| No. 61823
So you agree that she deserves to be hounded by an angry mob while people illegally use her nudes to shame her and harass her family?
|>>|| No. 61825
>HOUNDED BY AN ANGRY MOB
Petitions to lose her job after she's brought her employer into disrepute. The absolute horror.
|>>|| No. 61827
No. This isn't justice, this is mobbing. It wasn't right that it happened to Justine Sacco, to Quinn Norton, Kevin Williams, Bari Weiss or Roseanne Barr or any of the multitude of people a few minutes googling will turn up and it's not right that it's happening to her.
|>>|| No. 61828
What evidence is there of this supposed mobbing? Does the fact other people are being cunts mean we can't point out she's being a dozy cunt?
|>>|| No. 61829
we're doing it here so it's irrelevant, but everyone on twitter feels the need go go and repeat what's already been said, even though it adds nothing.
all it would've taken is one person on twitter calling her a cunt, but no, now half the readership of the daily mail feels the need to hurl that insight at her which is far out of proportion to what she actually did, unless we're going to hound everyone who mouths off on twitter. (if we're gonna do that we should pay people, that'd get rid of unemployment in one quick piece of legislation.)
|>>|| No. 61830
>EVERYONE ON TWITTER FEELS THE NEED GO GO AND REPEAT WHAT'S ALREADY BEEN SAID, EVEN THOUGH IT ADDS NOTHING
That applies to pretty much everything on Twitter.

It's a bit bollocks when a national newspaper is directing people to give a student heat, something they know will happen and do regardless.
>but she's a representative, that makes her fair game!
she's the kind of representative parish councillors call a nonentity. it's still the most popular newspaper in the UK bullying a random student and nudging others to do likewise.
|>>|| No. 61842
Don't dish it if you can't take it. Nobody asked her to publicly state she wanted to paint over a mural commemorating students who went off to fight in the first world war because she found it too pale, stale and male.
|>>|| No. 61843
>DON'T DISH IT IF YOU CAN'T TAKE IT
What did she 'dish out' exactly? You make it sound like she was attacking someone and can't handle the return fire, when in reality she made a political statement and is getting personal abuse for it. That's very much not the same thing.
It was a fucking stupid idea she had and it's utterly tedious, but the response certain corners of the internet are having to her is very embarrassing.
|>>|| No. 61844
She said a stupid thing and as a result may end up psychologically scarred for years to come, as well as all the other fallout. It's not a small thing and I'm not being hyperbolic, it destroys lives and careers in an incredibly disproportionate manner. This is well documented.
|>>|| No. 61846
She's not random at all, in fact the reasons why she's on the receiving end are quite particular to her specifically.
|>>|| No. 61847
she's such a nonentity that it all fades into background noise, making her effectively random amongst non-entities singled out for a few day's hate.
|>>|| No. 61848
