Jeremy's the name.

Having people kill themselves after they fail one of my lie detector tests is the game.

>'He genuinely thought he was going to get some counselling and some therapy from the show. He said, 'we will get all the care we need',' she said.

>'His words were, 'They will help us and they have got the best teams in the country. They have got all the best counsellors'. He was naïve and really thought that.'

I know this is /iq/ but fuck me, that show is disgusting isn't it? Hopefully this is the last we see of it.

Jenny Jones got a guy on the show and told him he had a secret admirer. It turned out to be another guy and he later murdered him.

Where I come from we don't put our total faith in lie detector tests that are found to give false positives.

If they really worked it would revolutionise the whole legal system over night.

There was a guy on Jeremy Kyle a few years back who was a victim of domestic abuse. His partner coerced him into admitting to all sorts of shit on the show so that Jeremy would berate him endlessly for about half an hour.

That's some next level shit. Manipulating someone into getting humiliated on national telly.

It seems like he topped himself because he got dumped, and he got dumped because of the TV show.

He also stopped taking his morphine because he thought it would "affect the lie detector" so it's also possible he accidently overdosed because his pain went unmanaged for a few days and he took to much as a response.

Either way it's jezzas fault.

i've always thought it's quite abhorrent to be fair. just another excuse for stay at home parents and the sort of cunt who watches property programs to sneer in contempt at the worst off in society.

just goes to show though. i had a mate kill himself earlier this year, and most of his troubles came from a bint who had fucked him around for years and used the kids as leverage in all sorts of nasty ways, getting the social on his case and accusing him of beating her and so on. proper piece of work. we used to joke that he should take her on jezza, where he would have no doubt been made to look like the bad guy and booed off stage.

they should never have been exploiting people's real life misery like this.

Is it the exploitation of misery, or is it a platform for people who wouldn't otherwise be allowed on TV? Do we object out of genuine moral concern, or do we just want the underclass to be swept back under the carpet?

I certainly object on moral concerns. I'm cut from the same cloth as these people and it's just sad that they get suckered in like this. I think someone's mentioned it before but one of the main reasons these people go on the show is because a trip to London (or Manchester now I think) and a decent hotel for a couple of nights is unfathomable luxury.

in jeremy kyle's specific case, it was most certainly the former. i can see the case for the latter, but that wasn't jeremy kyle. there are maybe other tv programs which strive for that, but jezza was all about cynically juicing cheap entertainment out of people's problems.

>The father found dead days after appearing on The Jeremy Kyle Show told relatives the presenter had ‘really laid into’ him. In an emotional phone call following filming, Stephen Dymond said Mr Kyle had ‘ripped into him’ on stage, according to his son Carl.

>The 62-year-old was left distraught after failing a lie detector test over claims he had cheated on his fiancée. A week later he died in a suspected suicide. Mr Dymond’s landlady told the Mail he was deeply upset after appearing on the programme and also claimed Mr Kyle ripped into him on set.

>Producers at ITV now face urgent questions about why they allowed a father, who was suffering from depression and faced a warrant for his arrest, to appear on the programme.

The biggest stink in all of this is the "lie detector".

They don't work. They've never been proven to work. All they do is pick up how nervous you are.
It would be hugely damaging to anyone to put them though a test like that, say it proves they're lying when they don't think they are.

>I once sat backstage with a man who thought his friend had been sleeping with his wife. The friend was giving Trisha his version first. I can only imagine my “talking up” wasn’t up to par that day because, when the doors opened for the man to go on stage, a producer stepped in. “That man’s cock has been inside your wife,” he said. The man, who had now been wound up for over two hours, ran on and tried to attack his friend.

What magnificent bastards we are as a species. Personal highlight that has come out so far is that the Jeremy Kyle show made guests wear (studio owned) tracksuits, which was sometimes followed by Jezza berating them on stage and calling them scum for being in trackies.

It's what happens when things are viewed as exceptions rather than what they really are.

Can you really not figure out which part of that picture describes a Jeremy Kyle style show, or are you being contrarian for the sake of it?
