That's a very Cynical Old Man way to look at it. Firstly, don't you remember how idealistic you were when you were young? I'd definitely have had a crisis of conscience working for an MP at that age too. And secondly, people simply don't just 'ruin their career with a tweet' with the exception of people who are already quite famous. It's just not something that happens but older people tend to believe does. If anything it'll help him.

This man is going to be the next former MP for Sheffield Hallem and it's going to be fucking awesome.

In all seriousness this is a very good example of why MPs should probably face an automatic byelection when they switch political alliegences, as he's now beyond the reproach of the Labour Party and his constituents. He's the political Alexis Sanchez.
