What's behind this trend of girls and bottom gays, mostly seemingly American or Europeans absorbing Americanisms, calling their lovers "daddy"? It's disgusting and isn't a turn-on in the slightest. I get that a lot of these people have daddy issues but I don't want to be reminded that they're seeing me as their surrogate father during sex. It's disgusting and lewd Freudianism.

My best etymological guess is that the lower classes of America adopted it from the Mexican fashion of calling their lovers or attractive people papis/mamas/mamacitas/etc and it gradually became adopted by the rest of English-speaking America, and from there it spread to the rest of the world like a virulent STD. It could perhaps be shorthand for "sugar daddy", which is even more worrisome because it demonstrates that the idea of sex as a commodity or transactional exchange has gradually been gaining mainstream acceptance.

Bonnie and Clyde called one another “Baby” and “Daddy” respectively so I think, as ever, it’s nothing too new. It’s just harder to not see it when it’s being memetically retweeted day in, day out.

Bonnie and Clyde were murderous criminals so they're hardly exemplars of the norm.

I don’t think that has much influence on your lingo, nor does it change the fact they were from early 20th century, working class, American backgrounds. This goes against the assumption OP lent towards that it lasses calling lads “daddy” was a fairly new thing.

I didn’t bring it up to be argumentative.

When I was a wee lad I used to think that "surrogate" was a softy southern counterpart to a Yorkshire town.

On the off chance that the OP, or anyone else, is taking this seriously, despite it being in /iq/:
No, they aren't. Or at least, most of them aren't, it's just a power thing - same thing with them calling you Sir. Some lassies like it. Don't read too much into it.

I remember the first time my ex called me "Daddy" during sex, she was right in the moment and just came out with it. I told her after we finished "You know you called me 'Daddy', right?" and she looked mortified, I guess she was worried I'd find it weird. I told her it was okay though and it became a far more regular occurrence, and yes it was very much a roleplay thing. What can I say...that shit was hot. She turned out to be a compulsive lying psycho bitch but the sex was phenomenal.

purely because it's the most taboo thing you can do. we live inan age of relative sexual liberty, we can access any kind of perverse porn we want within seconds, so the old vanilla fetishes don't do it any more, and everyone who wants a fulfilling sex life has had to find new extremes.

amusingly There's two categories, from what I've seen. chavs and normal cunts are into swinging, cuckolding, and general promiscuity related kinks. the more of a slut you are and the more of a lad you act about the fact your bird is one the better. whereas your goffs and moshers etc are all into BDSM and bondage type fetishes with loads of toys and creative uses for them- control, denial, general dom/sub stuff is almost the norm now.

i've more frequently in the last few years found myself with "dysfunctional" partners- By which i mean partners who don't feel anything for the "traditional" foreplay of oral or masturbating one another etc, and don't become aroused unless you throw something subversive into the mix. at times i've even found myself thinking there's a sort of hipster sexuality nowadays too- bisexual birds who insist they're mostly into lasses (but will sheepishly admit they've only ever been with one or two) who stubbornly pretend they can only get aroused by tying you up and putting a vibrator on your knob while they finger your arse, because they don't want to let the side down conforming to traditional patriarchal sexual tropes.

the daddy thing is probably a sort of opposite equivalent of that, in todays age of supposed equality, calling you daddy is a huge turn on for lasses who have a guilt/shame complex about submitting to a man in the most literally patriarchal way possible

That's not a fetish, that's just the alt-right larping a historical fantasy.

Good lord, I'll have to let Mrs Cameron next door know that all these years she wasn't just a stay at home mother. She was accidentally securing the existence of her race and a future for white children.
Poor woman will be mortified when she finds out.
