Yeah, but we don't have Girl Scout troops in direct competition with them. The Girl Guides might still be a thing, though I haven't checked. When I was a Venture Scout, at that point the Scouts and the Girl Guides fused and it made sense, because you needed to be 17 to be a Venture Scout so camping shenanigans were between the individuals and were unable to damage the Scout movement. 15 year old boys and girls camping together was already problematic enough when the Guides were camping up Beecraigs at the same time as us, I lost my virginity in those woods, never mind them sleeping in the same pitch together and having most of the day to go "orienteering" to buy fags and booze together.
It was remarkably easy before girls were involved to say "Leader, we're making day packs and heading up The Knock so anon can get his orienteering badge, that cool?" and we would meet the Guides on the way.
