20758 The Hollow Crown
This shits all over Game of Thrones. It's the best production I've ever seen by the BBC. Loved every second.

Was that just a fancy bit or are they going to bore me with their Shakespearean English throughout the whole show?

I think Spartacus, The Borgias (with Jeremy Irons) and Vikings all shit over GoT, personally.

Spartacus was pretentious and try-hard. Vikings just kept on getting shitter and shitter. The Borgias was exceedingly great but they cut it short.

I've heard people call Spartacus all sorts of things, but you're the first to call it 'pretentious'.

Agreed, it was more or less Instant Gratification: The Show. In a likeable sort of way.

If we're talking about shitting all over Game of Thrones, HBO's Rome deserves a special mention. Strikes a really wonderful balance between sleaze, high drama and historical accuracy.

I think the first series of Spartacus, and the Gods of the Arena spin off, were brilliant. The proper 2nd and 3rd seasons not so much.

This season has been pretty good actually, too much filler but Rollo's fall and rise has made it all worthwhile.

Isn't this the show where Queen Margaret is a darkie?

I have to hand it to the History Channel, I don't think I would have learnt that the last thousands years of British monarchs were descended from just some Viking oik without them.

Like with Black Sails, I've been "cheating" by reading actual histories on Wikipedia.

I still can't fit the life of me figure out why the ancient people were so keen to fight in wars. I mean, compared to today, there was so much empty space. Why fight over resources with all that wilderness to claim?

Undeveloped empty space and wilderness aren't terribly valuable, because they're usually quite difficult to develop. Otherwise they wouldn't be, well, empty space and wilderness.

What does this even mean? You're referencing a track that was released sixteen years ago... Are you trying to imply that the poster is sixteen? That he's a teenlad? (which would be ironic because if he'd liked that song as a teenlad he'd be in his thirties by now) Are you so insipid and stuck in your ways that this track is still the best example of "edgyness" that you can come up with? Or are you just vacuously reposting a meme you've seen somewhere else and never really thought about? Honestly interested in the rationale behind this particularly infuriating shitpostery.

The eye rolling edginess from his post ('oh well all television has high quality violence, drama and tits') was irritatin. The kind of nonsense trotted out by self declared arbiters of taste. He deserved to be taken down a peg and there are few things a would-be avant garde snob can't stand more than ridicule.

I can't be arsed to correct this typo and I'm posting from a hotel tonight so the ban won't matter to me. Do your worst, grammar Nazis, I have already won.
