7878 Looking to buy an occasional flat in South London.
My husband told me not to post this but we are looking for a property that we can spend a few hours in each week.

It needs to be close to pubs and clubs but away from any noise. A safe room would be a bonus but we think we can cope without one.

My budget is 1 Million pounds sterling.

Any help would be welcome.

In reality, if you had this much money you could hire someone to do the job for you.

The idea that both and your husband post on .gs is the maddest thing about this post.

What kind of demented freaks share an obscure anonymous imageboard.

There's clearly something off about this, but what's the game here?

Clearly not written by someone from the UK. What's the point of the first line? To humanise it, maybe? Then again why would your husband not want you to post this?

It's not like anyone in here would have a £1m flat with a fucking safe room which they would be willing to be scammed out of.

And why here? Of all the places to ask for advice on purchasing a flat of that value...

I assume it's a joke or commentary of some sort, but I don't get it.

A flat with a safe room for only a mill in London!

I assume you must have been born or married into money because you have no sense of what things are worth.

Google would have told you that it's a repost from Reddit's r/London, probably for (failed) comic effect.

The new Anarchylad is trying to rile the two of us up with his biting satire.

I actually wonder how much a safe room costs - by the looks of things you have to buy the property first and then get a bespoke installation. Given London's premium on space and the purpose of the safe room that could be the whole flat which, even in central, might be affordable on the budget for mere riot proofing.

1M can easily buy a house in South London with plenty of change to spare. The problem for normal people is that getting 10% deposit is a piss-take and you will always have to choose between a comfortable space or the commute. You also probably won't live in proper London and the area will be more multicultural than you'd want.

Is this some kind of forced meme at the expense of the current out-of-touch Tory government? Stranger things have happened.

1 million can buy you a house in South London in a place the kind of person who expects their flat to have a safe room wouldn't want to live. I wouldn't expect Bromley to offer them the lifestyle they would want. Put it that way.

Some parts of Crystal Palace did pop into my mind but Clapham will still leave you with change at the end of it. Depends on how much a safe room costs imo and why someone who needs such a thing would be moving to South London.

Not OP but if I did move back to London I'd have a similar budget I suppose. I'd not need a huge house but would like a big garage/driveway and reasonable shed-compatible garden, and would be driving to one of the airports, probably heathrow.

Safe room definitely not needed, I am okay to die whenever.

If your budget is a million then Hounslow and Slough is your oyster. I'd probably lean towards Hounslow as you can avoid the M25.

I hate to say it, but after looking locally, I'm not sure London is ever the answer. Look at this fucking monstrosity - I absolutely love it. Look at the fucking pool.

Sorry I'm posting here with actual millionaires (even if it's not liquid)?

Fuck me I thought we were all uni and early career lads getting Tesco 2 for £10 meals.

I was all that ten years ago. If you study hard at a useless degree and accidentally fall into a completely different career amd fail upwards, you too could be booking a viewing of a mafia mansion in 2030.

I'd have said the average age here is about 30 to 35, but there's certainly old farts amongst us.
