They're saying he committed suicide.

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-47442312

>In a post on The Prodigy's official Instagram account, bandmate Liam added: "I can't believe I'm saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.

>"I'm shell-shocked... angry, confused and heart broken."

I'd like to think he killed himself by arson.

I met him and he was just quite simply a very lovely chap. Not to mention his talent.

Suicide too. What a shame. RIP lad.

All the stories I've been hearing about him, he genuinely seemed like a nice guy. Just makes it seem like another Robin Williams thing. Sad to hear.

I think niche youth icons like him also don't age gracefully. It's not an act you can carry on into your 50s. Or even your 40s, without looking like a pitiful sap. Most of the time anyway. And add to that the usual identity crisis that comes with being on the verge of a new decade in your life. Aging is difficult at the best of times, but being 39 or presumably 49 (I am somewhere in between the two in my own life now) kind of gives you a lot to think about on top of everything else.

He certainly made the mid-90s a little bit more colourful in his own way. I remember getting completely off my tits in my favourite club almost every weekend and just totally going wild to "Firestarter" on the dance floor. Good times.

A lot of them probably Russian. Prodigy was huge in Russia in 90's, you have no idea.

By all accounts he seemed reasonably settled in the 'aging raver' role, he ran a pub for a while and seemed to be more than able to separate his performing persona from his real life one.

It's always easy to be drawn to the idea of the poignant, ironic, tortured artist type of celebrity death, but I think what killed him is more likely to be boring old regular depression.

Reports are suggesting it was because he'd split with his wife.

It would only follow that the two were good friends. Keith Flint was always seen by some as the Johnny Rotten of his time.

But yeah, you have to respect that he appears genuinely moved. Kind of makes you forget the things he reportedly said about Donald Trump.
