I think it's pointless to compare comics against films. I liked the film though.

I think the comics had the edge slightly, I liked what they did with the character of Hit-Girl and I liked the less sympathetic portrayal of Deuxma and the fact Lizewski was basically just a whiny little bitch. That said, I don't think those things would have worked very well in the film, so I dunno.

This thread inspired me to read 7 and 8 of the comic series. The writing's good, drugs and genital mutilation, but by the looks of it, John Romita (the penciling) was working drunk.

john romita? isn't it his son who worked on the astonishing spiderman comics? or was it him himself?

Fairly average superhero action thing with one decent fight scene which involved the little girl.
Disappointly sanitized and pasteurized the important theme of the comic story which made it all about losers playing out wish-fulfillment fantasies in favour of getthegirlbloweverythingup pointlessness.

Both men are called John Romita, the one who pencilled Kick Ass was John Romita Jr.

Everything that the movie changed was for the worse. The most objectionable being that Dave gets the girl. Fucking Hollywood.

Despite that, it still managed to be enjoyable, so who cares.

The most horrific thing of all is that the movie mask has a hole in it.
