I don't even know what you posted, but I can assure you that the mods have been banning arseholes for shits and giggles since this sites inception, if that is any consolation at all.

Sorry to drift off-topic, but 40.01 is pretty buggy. Lots of crashes. Might be best to wait until 40.02, which will probably be out within the next few days and will address some of the worst offenders.

Now that the new version's been released, it's entered the bugfix release cycle, so there'll be a bunch of releases over the course of the next few months. Not a good idea to get into community forts or extended projects, but by all means play, and report problems on the bug tracker.

The highlight so far is probably the parkour, trees, and excellent goblin sites.

I fucking love trees now. Even in sparse biomes, you cut down one tree, you get about 9 logs. I've only played for a couple of hours, so no invaders climbing my walls yet, but I plan to experiment with water, lava, and running panicky dwarves to see just what sort of motivation they need to climb.

I've also just got two weeks off work so I can play to my hearts content.

I'm not big on adventure mode, because it's fucking hard unless you've got some skill grinding macros set up, and I can't be arsed - but I played a little, and was impressed by how much depth has been added to the dialogue.

Retiring fortresses is going to be wicked.

The trees are great, especially I'm adventurer mode, which I love. I've found you don't really need to train so hard before you get cracking. Archery is useable now with the combat/move split.

There are some frustrating problems with dwarf mode atm, but overall it doesn't seem to play too differently to .11. Just waiting for Dwarf Therapist.... And perhaps a more stable version.

yeah, I haven't noticed any major changes yet in fortress mode. Supposedly there's some new spoilers. I usually embark on a volcano, and the only one on this world was a small island, so I shouldn't get many invaders if any at all. I will say that though I played vanilla DF for ages, I'm kind of missing DFhack at the moment. Amazing how fast you get used to that for controlling tantrums and keeping the place clean.

I forgot to try the new combat system, I'll have to go back in.

These days, most of my time spent playing DF is on the embark screen trying to come up with interesting combinations of skills and items for my expedition party. When I actually get into the game I remember why I stopped playing in the first place. Before you know it 30 minutes has gone by designating tunnels, buildings and various other jobs, only to hit space and realise none of it has actually begun yet.

You've got to be in the right mood to start a new fortress. Once you've settled into the right mindset, you find the patience you need.

The new version still has some annoying bugs that leave it less playable on fort mode than the previous one. Adventurer mode too is left a little wanting. Both still have fun new features though (trees are great!)
