>I had a visit from Dave Sheppard, mighty Dave, from Muscle Beach days. We looked at each other, our bodies half-destroyed by lifting. ‘What fools we were,’ Dave said. I nodded and agreed.”
I've been very physically active all my life, and until corona, I had a pretty steady gym routine of two to three times a week. But I never pushed it to any kind of excess. I wanted to look just a little bit athletic, in a healthy way. But there were certainly a few juicers at my gym, lads who looked like they were either pimps or wholesale drug dealers or night club owners, or all of the above. It never seemed to me like what they were doing was healthy in any way, or even worth aspiring to.
