Is the song "big girls don't cry" about fat lasses or do they mean "big girl" as in grown up?

They didn't mince words in those days, but if they meant big as in overweight, it probably would have been more along the lines of "Fat girls don't cry because they can't get a husband".

I refuse to believe they would be so cruel. They had better things to sing about, like a young man losing his virginity.

My dad used to do the hot drink thing for when my mum came home and have dinner on the way. She seemed to appreciate it and it probably saved their marriage, but the thing is I have no idea whether he'd listen to the traffic report ahead of time or if he spent decades of his life tipping tea away whenever there was heavy traffic.

Of course these housewives were wasting their time as everyone knows the look of excitement from the dog is what cheers everyone up.
