The most offensive part for me is how he brought an outside beverage into the pub and sits down sipping it throughout the date before he says anything. I bet there's some graffiti in the toilet warning everyone that he has some things on his computer that he shouldn't.

She calls her kids "the wee wans" not "the wains" and that sounds wrong to me.

The way it reads to me is that she's clearly a council (or "scheme" as the scots say) bird, that's the main aspect around which her other traits (being large, brash, intimidating, having loads of scally kids, etc) revolve and how we're supposed to identify her. Thus, none of the twitter woke warriors would give much of a shit, because making fun of the lower classes generally doesn't count as bigoted, and in fact is encouraged in some cases.

At least, that's according to their own logic; for regular normal people it doesn't deserve a cancelling because grow up, it's just a tv ad with a bit of harmless bants.

I've thought about this a few times now and it surprises me it was still even going. I half assumed they would have just pivoted the format to be like that one that literally just showed videos off of the internet, what was that called again?

Anyway it puzzled me for a bit why even my dad, completely tech illiterate in his 60s, loves tiktok, but when I saw what he watches, it makes sense. it's just a 24/7 non-stop feed of you've been framed.

Take that woman whose body was just found in the river, for example. Someone filmed themselves digging in woodland nearby to try and find her body, for tiktok clout. Other people started harassing locals in the village she lived in because of conspiracy theories all over tiktok.

4chan was shitposting for the lulz. At least it was back in the day, I've not lurked there in years. Any new platform would be full of people looking to monetise themselves or become famous.

Tiktok is the logical conclusion of algorithm-driven social media. It started out as just a crap Vine clone, but they bet the entire company on perfecting their recommendation algorithm. The For You Page is almost supernaturally good at working out what to show you to keep you watching.

4chan became a hive mind because of the lack of personalisation - everyone on the site sees the same thing, sorted in bump order. That very simple algorithm amplified whatever was contentious, whatever was lulzworthy, whatever was irresistible to the largest number of users. Tiktok pushes the same buttons, but on an individual level. Your FYP doesn't show what you want to see, it shows what you can't ignore.
