>>72086 >>72087 I think some kind of elder god will awaken and destroy us all if the Seth McFarlane repeats were to stop. It's the only way I can rationalise how ceaseless they've been for more than a decade at this point, and why no one talk about them. They'll probably take me out just for posting this.

They've been a fixture. They remind me of the days when I was coming home from the pub off my tits and watching Family Guy and American Dad on ITV2 or ITV2+1 before switching over to BBC Four's often quite niche late night documentaries that were just the right kind of pseudointellectual stuff to drift off to. I mean, who knew that medieval Norse art had such a profound influence on the whole rest of Europe.
>>72089 My girlfriend often puts Family Guy and American Dad repeats on in the background when there's nothing else on (90% of the time), and they are both genuinely funny shows even though they have the rep of being lowest common denominator stuff. Would rather watch modern American Dad and Family Guy than the dreck that is modern Simpsons.
Cleveland Show was awful though. And that Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy was dreadful, like a shit parody of Family Guy cutaways but extended to excruciating lengths.
The Cleveland Show has been called much worse, including "Family Guy in blackface". I just thought it was harmless at best, but in any case not worse than many of the most recent Family Guy episodes.
Seth MacFarlane left Family Guy as creative director about eight or ten years ago to focus on things like his live-action movies, and from that point on, he has just been phoning it in, and these days near enough the only involvement he has with the show is the time he spends in the voice recording booth. And it shows, because the episodes just aren't as well put together anymore as they used to be when he was still the showrunner.
