Is anyone else here rural? Not 'I live in the country but spend my entire life shooting gangsters on gta waiting to leave' but actually people who live rurally and take advantage of it?

What do you think about rural life in Britain, the direction it's headed, how it's changed, what can be done for the better, etc?

The countryside and rural areas scare me. I have always been in a city, and all that space and freedom makes me go mental. I start thinking about arming myself.

I'm exactly the same with regard to urban areas, I live in a small/medium size city for uni (200,000) and it's fucking weird.

No. If I leave the city, will I see it? Anyway, it is always grey and cloudy.

I feel safest when I am in packed areas. I don't know why. I suppose it is to do with where one is brought up.

Oh dog, you're missing out man, they're beautiful. I could lie outside for hours just looking at them.

Semi rural. Good for bike rides, shite for almost everything else.

I love rural life. I live in a small village but still wish I was even more out there..I am very annoyed, as is everyone else (here at least) at the constant attempts to build more houses that will never get used on every bit of green available, though. They seem intent on getting rid of the countryside at the moment, or any green buffer between small towns/villages.

Unfortunately that seems to be the way things are going. There is at least 5 plans around here to build housing estates, and everyone local is objecting to them yet they will most likely go ahead anyway, as at least 2 already are.

If it's only poshos that have any will to preserve the countryside then non poshos can get fucked.

If some where is so urbanised as to have green buffers rather than a couple of miles of open fields between towns and villages even small ones then it isn't exactly rural.

This thread is so depressing. I wish my job situation allowed me to live rurally.

Oh, I missed the second paragraph of OP.

I have a lot to say about it, but I'm not in the right mood to go into it yet. Will post later.

Im surprised citylad hasn't come in to tell you all how you are cunts.

I live in Denny, which is 4 or 5 miles of fields in either direction to either Stirling or Falkirk. It is really nice to be able to go for country walks and take my bike out for the day if it is nice. The views of the Ochil hills are brilliant from here on a clear day, also.

However, I haven't seen the stars since I was a kid. It is too bright, even here. I used to live in a village called Blackridge and that was properly rural and I could see the stars there.

I think my proximity to the BP refinery in Grangemouth is the problem rather than light, now that I think about it.

I live on the edge of Edinburgh, pretty much as close to the bridges as you can be, but I climb the Ochills and the Lomonds quite a bit, it's a nice area. I always found coastal Lothian pretty bland and depressing, but further inland there's some really great hidden countryside.

I'd love to live rurally too but my skills involve using computers and therefore the internet. No chance of getting decent internet in the green.

That and I'm worried and a little intrigued/aroused about the supposed swinger and sex cults prevalent in rural areas.

>Rural

Denny is pretty urban as far as I know, I live in Stirling now, but I grew up in rural west shetland.

Denny has a population of about 8000, and that is pushing it. It is surrounded on each side by miles and miles of countryside. All you need to do is pick a direction and you'll find a country walk/reservoir/wood to explore.

Lots of mushroom picked to be had as a result.
