42437 This man is the new Pope, and it's going to be fucking the same
Robert Prevost has become Pope Leo XIV, the first American Pope.

>Cardinal Robert Prevost, a little known missionary from Chicago, was elected in a surprise choice to be the new leader of the Catholic Church on Thursday, becoming the first U.S. pope and taking the name Leo XIV.
>"Peace be with you all," he told the cheering crowd, speaking in fluent Italian. He also spoke in Spanish during his brief address but did not say anything in English.
>Prevost, 69 and originally from Chicago, has spent most of his career as a missionary in Peru and has dual Peruvian nationality. He became a cardinal only in 2023. He has given few media interviews and rarely speaks in public.

From what I have been able to find, he is less of a tolerant reformer than Pope Francis was, but still isn't a fire-and-brimstone type. He is known for his compassion and kindness, but has in the past opposed the gays, the other letters in LGBTQIA+, and women being priests. Although he's spent a long time in Peru, certainly the biggest talking point so far is that he's American, and so it's basically like making Colonel Sanders or Eddie Murphy the Pope. But maybe he will be able to spread lots of good messages, and tackle all the child molesters who voted for him and send them all to Hell forever.

He's also criticised Trump's VP and is a registered Republican. Although I don't see even Catholics really caring too much - he's largely a figurehead of a dying religion and apparently he even makes a habit of popery in his private life, full on walking around in a dress, washing feet and kissing babies.

If he really doesn't like the VP, he can just excommunicate him.

Finding a Catholic bishop who wasn't involved in covering up abuse is like trying to find a 1990s pro cyclist who wasn't involved in doping.
