Frying pans. I need a new one, I currently have this one, a Thomas - good size, nice height walls, but all the teflon's coming off after less than a year. Budget is small. Any recommendations?

The SKANKA ones from IKEA aren't bad at £14 or so.

Nowhere that sells frying pans lists the weight and it really annoys me.

If the Teflon is coming off you might be cooking over too high a heat, using metal utensils on it (please, please say you aren't), or it's just a bit shit (very possible).

Sainsbury's pans (the mid-range ones, not Basics anything) aren't too bad and should be within your budget, though if you can stretch to closer to £30-£40 you can get some very nice pans down TK Maxx.

I bought a stoneware ceramic coated pan and I use that for most things now other than eggs, which I have a little egg pan for.

It was £20 off of groupon. Groupon is great for shit like this.

The only metal utensil I use on it is a ladle type spoon, not too often though. I don't generally go particularly high temps as I'm perpetually afraid of burning things.

Hmm.

I'm a fan of the anodized ones, rather than teflon. I think they can take a bit more punishment before losing the non-stick. I like to whack the heat right up. I've ruined cheapy teflon ones from Robert Dyas first user.

No stoneware, but I found this.

Looks good for £20.

Consider cast iron, I don't think anything beats it for the price when it comes to heat retention and durability. I have a heavy duty Victor pan I bought for a tenner around 7-8 years ago and it's the best thing I have for steaks, browning meat, and almost everything that needs to be fried. The only downside is that you can't put it in the dishwasher.

Have a look in your local TKMaxx.
