How many takeaways do you have in a month? What's the right amount?

I feel like I'm slowly turning into a once-a-week man because I just can't be arsed and Covid gives you the excuse as there's sod all else you can spend your money on.

Once or twice a week. It used to be a lot more, I had got quite used to eating out so when covid happened I just transferred that to my habits at home.

It's pretty silly, really, I know it's a rip off.

Once or twice a month.
I just try not making it a habit for the sake of my wallet and my waistline.

Also I don't get why people like Dominoes so much. It's just greasy shite oh wait thats why
Papa johns is much nice in my opinion, and there's plenty of independent places around that cater to both the greasy shit and the poncy italian ends of the market.

Possibly once or twice a month. If I knew whereabouts that ~10 year old picture of one of the mods ordering from Domino's almost every day was I'd link to it.

Even if Papa John's was not worse than Domino's, which it isn't, their founder is such a overtly terrible human being they don't deserve my business.

Far too often, especially since I need to be tightening both my figurative and literal belts after Christmas. I'd say I probably get anywhere between 6 and 10 a month.

The most depressing thing about this image is that he seems to be ordering exactly the same thing most of the time.

Never really any more, can't justify it as it's generally not good value for the money.

I reckon it's different tastes for different tongues. I'm a Pizza Hut man because I think the cheese is better but it might just be that it reminds me of being young and in love.

I don't think I've ever had a takeaway pizza that's nicer than a large Chicago Town one.

I only have Dominos because it's right around the corner for me, and often the delivery guy is here before I've even had time to put some trousers on. Maybe every other week.

The quality of the pizza itself is shite, but frankly it doesn't matter, because no takeaway pizza will ever compare to the ones they used to do at Islamabad in Wakey, before they changed it into a real restaurant.

I'll occasionally have a Chinese, but you get even worse value for money there, as if that was possible. You always have to order too much because of the portions, you waste half of it, and they all fleece you for at least two quid on delivery.

It honestly depends. I'm not averse to one a week, but it's usually one every other week. I have a local Chinese Restaurant that also does delivery so their food is fantastic, I also have a local Indian which does Lamb Pakora which is also fantastic so I switch between.

If I get a Pizza it's from the Indian because, even though the bases are frozen, they are miles better than Dominos somehow.

It definitely is, because I find Pizza Hut completely unpalatable - to me it tastes like the sauce is burnt. But clearly they're doing alright so I accept it's just my personal problem.

Papa Johns is definitely the best of the big three, but I do avoid ordering from any of them as their pricing and offers means you end up with two large pizzas plus sides to feel like you're getting a good deal, and I'm fat enough already to be doing that.

I know this isn't the thread for preaching but I feel a lot better when I cook my own meals. Looking at your bank statement and seeing you've spent a hundred quid on justeat in a week is very unpleasant.

As a cheflad I encourage my friends who don't know how to cook to try one of those sorts of services. It's still an expensive way to do things but is an excellent gateway drug. Anyone with even a little bit of sense will realise after a couple of months they can just go shopping and cook their newly learned repertoire, and it just builds from there.

Once a week, normally. Occasionally I'll have a burrito as a second if I particularly can't be fucked.

Once a week during sad times - I'll alternate which shop I use as to obfuscate my lack of self control - but ususally about 2-3 times per month at aproximately £12 a time. Chinese, init.

It took me a while to realise that different chefs excel at different dishes, thus when recieving a 'bad' takeaway it might be that you've ordered the the wrong thing from that particular shop. I'm not on name terms with any of staff, but you get to notice when back-of-house people switch jobs.

>I'm a Pizza Hut man because I think the cheese is better
Yeah it's pretty stretchy with a suprisingly plesant rubbery texture.
An old story of our families is of a cousin who choked on Pizzahut cheese, having to pull a full meter of it out through her mouth from her stomach. Pretty funny stuff once she recovered.

>You always have to order too much [chinese] because of the portions
I usually order 2 main dishes and split 1 boiled rice between them. It feels like a waste otherwise, even if i'd use the remaining rice days later in some homecooked food. Simple salt pepper and rice is okay though, maybe i'll start doing that. Could add a handful of frozen veg.

Covid bollocks and totally antisocial working hours have put me in the five times a week club which is just ridiculous. I get delivery sushi so it's probably not putting any weight on me compared to getting Indian/Chinese/pizza or what have you but the sodium from all the soy sauce can't be good and it's also stupidly expensive.

Ironically it's only the weekends when I can find time to cook now. I need to sort myself out it's grim.

There was (is?) a kebab place in Bucharest of all places, in the base of a commieblock across the road from the commieblock my mate lived in, that was absolutely fucking divine. It had potato chunks in that were just the perfect blend of spicy and savoury. I've not had one come close before or since.

Usually I have one once every six weeks, if you average it out over a year. However, in the past month just gone I've had two, because I'd not had any takeaways at all for a couple of months before exactly a month ago and then on something like the 28th I wanted a Chinese. I had a crab that time! Oh, the novelty. The chippy and the Chinese closest to me are probably the best I've had and COVID has forced the Chinese to start home deliveries rather than only doing customer pick-up, so, that least some good has come from all this.

I used to have one every 2 weeks, but since the pandemic i've gone months without them because i've had to do online groceries, which means planning out the week in food (there's always something in), and with no commute i'm rarely too tired to cook.
