No. 97425Anonymous 22nd January 2023 Sunday 1:05 am97425Why are trans people in this country so bloody stupid?
I know I'm going to get flak for this, so let me say that I have respect for trans people and think their gender is valid. But I think they're also utterly daft. It's not because they're trans, but they're Poms.
One minute, everyone from the Tories to Labour are not just authoritarian, and transphobic, but outright fascist because they sat on the fence on banning trans conversion therapy, and proposed a 'pandemic safety bill' that would've increased censorship and surveillance in protests.
Next, the same people propose a bill that would extend censorship and surveillance to Facebook and even private chats, ban any company that won't comply (like Putin did!) but because it protects trans people from harmful misgendering content it's fine and there's no way this could be used against them.
Oh, and Peter Tatchell and Stephen Fry are mysigynist fascists for speaking out against it, because of jingoism and sublte antisemitism.
Trans Poms, make your mind up ffs. Could someone please explain to me this massive cognitive dissonance?
It's just standard liberal brain rot, a natural consequence of an ideology that stands for nothing but sheer emptiness, mixed in with a decent dose of the old identity politics mind worms.
Really when it comes down to it it's just that the vast majority of people really have no concept of consistent principles or ethical reasoning. Their values and political beliefs are entirely, 100%, completely and utterly self serving, and nothing more. They can face heel turn and argue for something that does the opposite of what they said they wanted a minute before as long as it benefits them (and it doesn't have to be direct benefit- merely the surplus enjoyment of looking good on Twitter will suffice) instead, and they genuinely see no problem with that.
It's a black pill, but the truth is everyone is just a self-centred arsehole, and that's how it is. If my path through life had been very slightly different that'd probably include me too. You are fortunate if you can step back and see things more objectively and pragmatically, but it also means you're better off just ignoring the politics. It'll do your head in.
Why are you lot obsessed with transpeople? The thread about them on /news/ has over 1,700 posts and it's not as if debate about them has been solel6 contained to that thread. You're literally discussing the same thing over and over again on repeat.
I follow many trans commentators and allies. I've not seen anyone, anyone saying the Online Safety Bill is totally great because it will reduce misgendering - I don't think I've seen them talk about the bill at all in fact - so your thread's a bit pointless. If anything trans people tend to be more sceptical than most.
I've tuned out of "Twitter politics", so I don't know if there's any truth to what the OP is saying, but I will say it sounds like the exact same kind of divide-and-rule tactics that have always been present in politics.
For example, those with a financial stake in fossil fuels will often find unlikely working class allies who work in those industries, if there's no serious plan to replace the jobs that would be lost. I think >>97428 is perhaps a little too cynical; it's not that everyone is purely self-interested, but that there is genuinely less scope for universally supported principles being advanced in politics at the moment due to the stranglehold of corporate and military interests. The (simplified) solution in this case would be massive investment to transition from one industry to another while minimising inadvertent harm to people working or making money from them, but that requires taking a risk and spending a lot of cash that's quietly been earmarked for current players.
I think we're seeing similar unlikely alliances popping up all over the place, precisely because it helpfully misdirects and confuses issues where actually an overarcing solution would gain a broader base of support.
I don't follow any trans commentators or allies, but I do know an improbable number of trans people because I work in a very autism-heavy part of the tech industry. None of them think that the online safety bill is a good idea; the overwhelming consensus is that it's some mix of reactionary "think of the children!" policymaking and a naked power grab.
People who spend too much time on Twitter have brainworms - both the people with weird opinions, and the people who think that those weirdos are in any way representative or politically meaningful.
The culture wars are confected by a tiny minority of extremists. The overwhelming majority of the population hold very moderate social views of the "live and let live" variety. They aren't trans allies, but nor are they enemies - they couldn't give a toss what people do with their equipment and they're perfectly happy to use preferred pronouns out of simple politeness rather than any kind of political stance. They don't really understand Gen Z and their myriad gender identities, they might gently take the mick like they'd take the mick out of anything that young people are into, but they wouldn't want to cause anyone real offense or real hurt. That overwhelming majority opinion doesn't register in online debates, because those most people have an entirely reasonable aversion to vicious slagging matches.
Everyone just needs to chill the fuck out, including OP. Get off Twitter, stop volunteering to be bukkakked by the opinions of the noisiest and most unreasonable loons and spend more time talking to normal people.
>>97425 You are seeing what you want to see. They are so stupid because you are staring at a giant digital Rorschach blot and seeing only your own superiority.
Me, I only see someone saying "this country" and then whining about poms. Here's a suggestion, Bruce: if you hate our stupid evangelist christian korean youtubers so much then didgeridon't hang around - just hop on home on your fucking kangaroo.
>>97428 OP here. Personally I think it's not fair to generalise an entire political group as 'brainrot'. I think it involves a lot of desparation to grab anything they can because trans people just want acceptance like anyone else.
>>97432 There's plenty of it on Twitter. Eddie Izzard if you go back, Rhianna Pratchett recently (two of the only twitter feeds worth reading - perhaps their opinions have changed since). Peter Tatchell says he gets verbal attacks from other people on the left wuite often. This is easily google-able.
Maybe I've just seen twitter eejits, but when you have the NSPCC and Mermaids campaigning in support of it and getting mad when the 'legal but harmful' bit is removed, there's clearly some support for it.
>>97435 Now that's a blatant misinterpretation. I said it's annoying when people decide someone is a fascist despite them being quite left wing, like JK 'Totally Not a Bigot' Rowling based on her 'antisemitic' goblins, implying that antisemitism indicates rightwing knobbery and never left wing. While belittling or ignoring the opinion of any Jew who disagrees
>>97436 Remind me again, who was it who only had one ball?
You must be very old now.
>>97439 My own superioity. Says the individual who immediately resorts to jingoism. You only prove me right.
Except for the fact really I think it's a small minority of people, but it's enough to be a problem.
>>97439 Perhaps I should also add, I associate an work with trans people often. I know what they're like, and that is, they're people. That I care about. And like any other people in this country, can be really bloody weird. And drive me to utmost frustration. I give a shit, is what I'm saying, enough to grapple with it, and you can see that in the tone of my first post.
I know several evangelist christian korean youtuber Americans who are bemused by it. For starters. No, I can't prove it, you'll just have to trust me.
>>97441 Tha's meant to say trans people. Didn't know about that bloody wordfilter. I could ask why the word for 'TG' is filtered out. Maybe you could too if you care so much about trans people. I mean you clearly do; you were so outraged you didn't read my post properly, and got this idea I hate trans people. Admittedly my tone is a bit off colour, but don't call me a transphobe just because I was being a blunt convict to you
It seems that what some people have forgotten is that there are plenty of Labour MPs who support this bill. It's not just a tory pedo scare, but possibly some covert evangelist christian korean youtuber shit on the left as well.
While the parable about not building on sand is technically in the new testament so you may claim not to know it, it's still fairly self evident that there's no point trying to be constructive on top of the shit you post.
>>97446 And why is that? Because I worry about the encroaching surveillance and how it's going to affect trans people? Or the fact that so many people in this country have little idea of how their legal system works or the mindset of politicians? I might be going on a rant, but am I wrong?
>>97426 It happened seventy years ago during a time neither you nor your parents were alive. There's only so much you can play out guilting the goyim before it gets tiresome. Get over it already, for fucks sake.
It's not a partisan issue, funnily enough, because both sides have a faction with reasons to hate trannos.
With the left it's just interesting because, if you hadn't been keeping up with all this malarkey, you'd assume the obvious progressive thing is to support it. But the left has quite a large cohort of radical fisherpersons, or as you may have heard them referred to, "TERFs". And the thing is with radical fisherpersons, their hatred for anything with a Y chromosome overrides any rational argument or reasoning. It doesn't make a jot of difference to them if a bloke goes through years of psychological and hormonal therapy before getting his very manhood lopped off entirely- He is still a man, to them, and always will be.
In a way it's really obvious, but somehow people can't see the wood for the trees here. They're at once embarrassed that the mad bra burning bints couldn't just keep quiet and not embarrass everyone for once, but at the same time still act as though the mad bra burning bints were totally corect and valid right up until they said "No, actually I don't think a woman can have a willy." It's mental. Radical feminism has always been a movement of bigotry. It has always been led by wealthy, privileged women, and has benefited them at the expense of the working class women it claims to represent. By disguising itself as a leftist movement, feminism infiltrated the left globally, and acted as the delivery vector for the type of idpol mindworms we see today.
What we see in the war between trannos and TERFs is the snake eating it's own tail. It's an experimental bacteriophage virus, that has run out of control and begun attacking the host's own immune cells. The patient is entering septicaemic shock, it's threatening to bring the whole system down with it, and I honestly don't know if we will be better off for it afterward.
You've confused "trans people" as a cohort with a handful of trans people (and hangers-on) who have annoyed you on Twitter. You're getting irate about a tiny minority within a tiny minority, because Twitter's algorithm has been carefully honed to identify and exploit the bit of your brain that gets irate. They do this so that you spend more time on Twitter and see more adverts.
There are almost exactly as many nutters as there were 30 years ago, we just live in a world where certain corporations have an incentive to push the most provocative and divisive opinions to a mass audience. Most people are basically reasonable - a bit dense, a bit parochial, small-c conservative, but basically reasonable.
The Online Safety Bill is bad legislation, but it has almost nothing to do with trans people. There are 245 pages in the current version, only one of which even mentions gender reasssignment (along with a bunch of other protected characteristics like race, religion and disability). There are lots of reasons to be annoyed about the OSB, but the idea that it's being foisted upon us by a bunch of gender benders is a complete straw man. The print media are one of the few groups who actually like the bill, because it'll be massively inconvenient and expensive for the social media companies that trashed their business model; if you want to get irate about something, pay more attention to the incestuous relationship between the Tory party and the tabloid press.
>>97440 >This is easily google-able.
>Mermaids campaigning in support of it
Alright, where the fuck is it then? Apart from a brief mention in passing about how it could be a way to restrict online advertising for conversion therapy, all I see in this Google search are irrelevant links to Hansard and newspapers and right-wing websites. Can you back up your "easily google-able" claim?
>>97448 Oh, you mean the Holocaust? Well, I suppose you could say the same thing about the War in general, cobber. But then you don't see me telling you to stop Rememberance Day, or accusing you of doing the funny walk in front of Germans. Perhaps because that would be a cheap dismissal tactic and come across as highly insulting, and prove my opponent right.
Like you're doing right now.
I'm not trying to guilt trip anyone. You do that to yourself. I wish you Poms would whinge more at the Government.
>>97450 Believe me, I like to think it's a small minority of people who support the OSB, and I do not believe for one second this is being pushed on us by 'gender benders'. But there are more people supporting this than is healthy, it's a medium minority, not a small one. And there's not enough protest going on against it. There's a disconnect because certain people on the left support this bill despite the increased surveillance powers, but also oppose upcoming anti strike legislation, even thoug with those snooping powers they won't bloody need the anti strike law if they want to disrupt organisers.
Maybe that section of people aren't nutters. Just... they haven't thought about what it is they're supporting when they retweet a random activist's thoughts.
>>97453 It is possible I may be wrong about Mermaids...
But you could in fact try some other phrases.
Have you tried going to any of the twitter feeds or googling any of the other things I mentioned there? Evidently not. Come back to me when you have.
I can wait.
