Alright, well, I'm not really. However, I stumbled across these shirts and I was all "those are some pretty nice shirts, and totally my style!". Then I realised that they were ladies clothes and I, almost as quickly, remembered I was a man.
What I'm asking is, if I buy a large, will I end up looking ridiculous, or will no one be able to tell because it's a plaid shirt and not a cocktail dress?
No one notices the ladies underwear, so I feel pretty confident about some shirts.
It depends how they hang on you. They look like they taper out at the hips a bit so that might look slightly odd on a male figure. I heard it was fairly common for guys who wore really skinny jeans (I hope those are out of fashion now) to wear female ones.
This lad has it. If it hangs like a shirt, you're sound. Don't worry at all about the taboo of wearing something that's meant to be from the women's section. If you like how it looks, the only difference is fit.
Otherwise you should try to identify the patterns you like and look for them in the mens section. Are there any particular shirts you like? Us /poof/ters might be able to ID the print and direct you to an alternative.
The majority of my wardrobe is female cut. That said, if you were my son and I saw you wearing one of those I would beat you to death with a cricketbat, before furtively disposing of your body.

It might not be true, but that's social science for you.
For tedious historical reasons, shirts button left-over-right while blouses button right-over-left. Same goes for cardigans, blazers etc. Anyone with an ounce of fashion sense will spot it from a mile off.
