Hi britfags,

Was wondering what moisturiser you use (if any).

Do you use it morning and night?

I use an anti-aging "serum" and a day moisturiser most mornings after I shower, and occasionally a thicker night cream on the rare evenings I wash my face before bedtime.

A good rule of thumb is to get one with some sort of SPF in it; the sun is the culprit for most of the visible signs of aged skin throughout your life.

You don't wash your face at night? Not even with some water?

I use a Kyoku moisturiser for the day and a nivea Q10 night cream at night. I use a clarisonic brush before application, which drastically improves how well it's absorbed.

>>4833Very surprised that there are so many lads using moisturisers. I always believed that they were a clever way of sucking men into the cosmetic market as women weren't enough.

I used to use the Clearasil daily wash, which I guess helped to keep an oily-free face, but since I'm long past puberty, I don't see the point anymore.

I was curious today and bought the "bulldog face wash" which was half price (the prices of these things are ridiculous in my opinion).

I used to travel a lot so I have a lot of mini hotel own-brand moisturisers. They smell lovely and get the jump done. They also help me realise how shit my life has become and the futility of trying to climb back up.

I've experimented, but I'm pretty lucky I grew out of acne and now have good skin. Drinking a lot of water and exercising helps.

One thing I wouldn't mind is maybe something to whip over my nose and forehead to control the oil there. I don't know if a product like that exists, moisturisers tend to make it oilier. What am I looking for? A toner?

While we're at it, is there a good lip balm that won't make my mouth feel greasy?

If I don't moisturise I look like a scaly monster. Really dry skin, on my part. I wash my face with just warm water and I use Nivea for Men Sensitive as anything else coming in contact with my face is instant spots. The fragrances are what do it.

My skin is good now, don't get me wrong, but I have to do a lot of work to keep it that way.

I have a kinda dry forehead, I should moisturise it but I don't often.

Unconnected question but I don't think it's worthy of a new thread - my nose seems shit at letting air in, especially one nostril, is there any way of opening them up a bit more?

You only breath through one nostril at a time, it cycles every ten minutes or something.

On a serious note, how about trying a bit of Vicks or something similar?

Have a word with your GP. It might be a dust allergy or something and he can put you on prescription strength antihistamines and a steroid nasal spray.

>>4845

It's supposed to but if you have chronic rhinitis, the dominant nostril can stay the same for months on end.

You're looking for a moisturiser. The best way to control oily skin is to make sure it's well hydrated in the first place, which will stop your body from producing the oil. You should get an oil free moisturiser and maybe a foaming cleanser. You should be able to pick decent ones up from boots for under a tenner each. If it's still a problem, then you might want to think about a mattifying lotion, but that only really works if your skin is extremely oily.

Is a clarisonic brush used to exfoliate? Is it not to harsh on the skin?

It doesn't really exfoliate by itself, no, I think it's referred to by the company itself as a cleansing brush. You can use (gentle) exfoliators with it though. It's not harsh at all. It looks like a big electric toothbrush, but the bristles are far softer. It's by far the most expensive skincare item I've ever bought, but it's probably been the best value considering how often I use it and how big a difference it's made..

I work at boots and get a good discount on the No.7 for men range.

No.7 for men intense moisturizer is pretty good, smells nice and keeps your skin hydrated pretty well, I've tried Nivea but for some reason or another it didn't agree with my skin (1/4 paddy genes probably has something to do with it). I usually use that all over my face and dab/massage the serum around my eye area.

A good neck to toe one is Palmers Cocoa butter. It's not cheap but it's great at tackling dry skin patches and blotches. I take longer than my missus after a shower sometimes putting it all on.

>>4833 This might be a bit much, but I'd recommend using cleansers and toners, too. I've always had dry skin and moisturisers tend to just sit on it without effect.

Anyway, go into a store like Kiehl's and let them play with your face, but tell them you're on a budget or else they'll show you really expensive stuff. They hand out free samples very readily too, so pick some of those up.

Cleansers work to gently clean your skin depending on what type it is - if you're using moisturiser you might want to avoid water and get a cleanser you can just wipe off - just as clean but not as drying.

Toners work to do things like tighter pores and improve your general skin condition, and can help moisture absorption.

Also, the goddamn beauty industry seems to differentiate between things that moisturise, and things that actually hydrate.

Best bet though is to go speak to a professional at a fancy store and see what they say.

Yes, one should always listen to advice from someone trying to sell you something on topics to do with what that person is trying to sell.

Lads I'm in a jam, I have dry skin that I use E45 to deal with but a girl I'm seeing had an allergic reaction to it last time we did anything.

I have yet to find out what exactly set her off in the ingredients but rather than go without until I do could you guys recommend any alternatives? She is allergic to oranges so pretty much anything will likely set her on fire but I guess I should make an effort.

In response to that;

Don't actually buy anything yet. Tell them you're keen but your skin is prone to breakouts if it doesn't like stuff so you'd really love to try it for a little while first.
