What's the best thing to shower with; a sponge, a loofah, a flannel or something else?

I've been using sponges for a few years but I'm wondering if they're really good for my skin once they get a bit manky. Particularly as you always have a soapy build up remaining.

I'm convinced that shampoo gets me cleaner than shower gel. Otherwise, I just use my hands. And water, of course; I tried showering in sponges but they wouldn't come out of the holes in the shower head.

I just scrub myself with Swarfega and a stiff brush, because it's the only thing that'll get me properly clean after a day in the workshop. Weirdly, women often compliment me on my skin. Swarfega does have a moisturiser to reduce the risk of dermatitis and scrubbing off industrial effluent has a rather strong exfoliating effect, but it's still unexpected given that I buy my sole skincare product in a 15 litre tub from Screwfix.

Orange swarfega has the same exfoliant microbeads in it as countless rediculously expensive women's skincare products. It does make sense that your skin would be nice.

How much better is this stuff compared to, say, a spoonful of sugar mixed into a squirt of washing up liquid? I always found that to be pretty good at getting all such as chain shite off my fingers after working on bikes.

It's basically the same idea, but with added moisturiser.

Basically, yeah. OG Swarfega was bright green and smelled a bit weird. It's been around since the 50s and is pretty much unbeatable for getting stubborn gunk off your skin. The newer orange stuff smells vaguely orangey and has bits in it.

I suspect Swarfega is probably a bit more effective, but the key thing is that Swarfega doesn't fuck up your skin. I used to be a bit careless about it, but a bad case of dermatitis is absolutely excruciating when you work with your hands all day.

Yeah, but you can show those hands to a fat gammon in a pub, and just because he "thinks they ain't woofter's hands", he will show you a special handshake to get away with petty crimes.
