Regardless of what style I use (britfags, luddite, pure) /101/ reliably crashes the browser on my phone (Firefox on Android 6.0).

That doesn't really tell us much. How does it fair on /beat/?

/beat/ is fine. Slow with the embeds, but doesn't crash. It's just /101/, and it doesn't matter whether I'm looking at the index, a full thread, or just the last 50, a long thread or a short one.

The whole site still runs slow as fuck compared to other chan's even with embeds disabled, I can't figure out why.

It sometimes works for about 30 seconds for me. I've a feeling it's to do with the background and colour formatting stuff although that's just total gut instinct and probably means nothing at all.

I'd be interested to know more. There are many things wrong with the site, but I've never seen speed as a problem tbh.

To be honest I've always found this site runs great, even on mobile.

My only problem is that the textbox on mobile is awful, so when it pops up it appears halfway down the page and doesn't move as you scroll, so often it gets stuck somewhere behind the keyboard and you've no idea what you're typing.

It's not the loading speed so much as it freezing for a while when I refresh or load a page in FF, as though it was full of flash files. I'll get more info later.
