Fuck this shitty website, and its shitty fucking mods. You should kill yourselves and let someone who gives a shit run the site. No one would miss you, and indeed I'd hazard a guess that news of your death would likely be positively received by most, if not all, of your real world acquaintances.
>>13775 Take a breath, mate. Step outside, maybe get a hug from someone. Flying into a fit of rage helps no one, especially yourself, but if you can talk about what's bothering you and achieve some kind of open dialogue, you'll find life a lot easier.
>>13781 I'm always in /shed/ complaining about people being banned for stupid reasons, so again, what are you on about? Who do you want to be banned who's not?
>>13781 Oh great, we're headed for another discussion about whether mods are too lenient or too heavy handed where we all pretend that bans actually work. I love those threads.
This is obviously a troll thread, so I wouldn't take much said in it too seriously.
I will say though that we routinely ban proxies and the list is fucking enormous. The majority, if not all, of TOR exit nodes are banned. Also, if we range ban someone, they have to be pretty determined to shitpost to get back in as a result of that (which is a bit sad really as bans rarely, if ever, exceed a day) and it's obviously caused problems in the past with things like no one on O2 in London being able to access the site from mobile for a while, but it's by no means a perfect system and I don't think anyone would claim it is.
You're right in that resetting your router tends to solve most problems, but I wouldn't go as far as to say bans don't work. We ban to teach in most cases, not to punish (unless it's a direct violation of the rules or the law), to keep the standard of posting as high as possible and people who run afoul are quickly informed of their error via a 24 hour ban and usually people are quite good at reporting things. I, personally, think that works well. The site polices itself in that sense. It means the community steers the severity/leniency of the bans in the majority of cases. .gs isn't a democracy, but neither is it a dictatorship.
>>13789 >things like no one on O2 in London being able to access the site from mobile for a while
I have never been able to post by mobile in London with the ban reason "Proxy" but I always assumed it was a range ban I placed myself when we had that particularly persistent cp spammer on the orange and other mobile networks.
