It's been a few months, hasn't it? purple, I love you for your decade(s) of doing this, but can we get reliable post delition back?

I don't know if it's a change in browser behaviour or brian, but can I please delete my own posts again? The spelling mistakes, the bad grammar, the bad takes, the clear mistakes that might be taken as face value, the... bullshit! Can both me and the other guy please delete it?

I think it's been a couple of years now.

I'm a fairly competent C(++)/JS dev. If you open source Brian I'm sure we could MBGA.

Open source? Then we'd see .gs become unrecognisable in a month after years of unchanging simplicity.

Post deletion still works, kind of. The last time i investigated this it was just the postpassword cookie getting mangled somehow. If you fix that to the correct value you can continue deleting.

I may as well make this point here - why aren't we using HTTPS? I know we're unlikely to be sending our banking details around here but the site should still follow basic security procedures. It's not even hard to implement.

It's available, it's just not redirected by default unless you're using something like HTTPS Everywhere. https://britfa.gs/*/ works as it's supposed to.

For me, the front page (reassuringly expansive, click here for boards, or whatever it says) is the only page that doesn't use HTTPS. Once I click to go to /*/, the little padlock appears and everything's groovy.

Open source doesn't mean anyone is free to edit; pull requests can be accepted or rejected by the repository owner, and don't have to be implemented.

You've gotta' fix this, guys. I proof read and proof read, but it's never enough. Any post over a certain size and I'm making a stupid typo, I can't help it!

If the source is freely available, then you can edit it. You can do whatever the hell you want to a program's source code on your own workstation, as long as it doesn't subvert the codebase. Certain licences allow you to fork things and not publish the changes. But things get complicated when you DO want to publish those changes. "Pull Request" is a call to glance over the changes to the codebase, if you wish to submit them for such scrutiny. It says nothing of the freedom to edit the code. You can do what the hell you want with it on your own closed dev platform, at the very least. But there is something of a gentleman's agreement that you will not be a cunt about things.

Minor whinge: Brian ate my post once when I back-buttoned it to oblivion, then after retyping it I stuck it on the wrong board and a mod deleted it. It was about free speech that would have caused an amusing cunt-off a spirited discussion and I didn't save a copy.

Is there any chance this could be put in the right thread or should I just accept my fate as a fat-handed twat who can't post?

(A good day to you Sir!)

You reported it so I assumed you'd copied it to post in the right place and wanted the mis-post deleted. I'll ban you from shed temporarily with the post content as the ban message.

Sorry it took so long lads.

Test it and let me know. I have been tinkering a bit with the site, so some bits might break as ever, but I might just have fixed deletion.

On /*/, the reply box doesn't open, either when I click the post number or the "Reply" button. I just updated Firefox last night and it worked before then, so I suspect that has something to do with it. I can still reply (obviously) by visiting the actual board and replying there, but I think one of your changes might not be compatible with Firefox v119.0.

I'm on the same browser version and it works fine for me. Any extensions that could be messing with it? Cleared the cache and all that?

Not a browser issue, and it's not just the postbox that stopped working.

You might need to refresh this file a few times in your browser until it updates - if you see a /build.js at the top you have the old one. It's just cached so you'll get it in the end. Once you have this version of the file, reply works again in Firefox in /*/

I'm posting it here because I don;t think it warrants a new thread, but does the hide thread button just not work for anyone else? I can't remember if I've seen it mentioned here before or if I'm just imagining stuff, because I have been using this site for far, far, far, far, far, far too long.

I don't want to use /sfw/ just to avoid seeing weirdpornlad's latest disturbing fetishes (which I nevertheless wholeheartedly support him in having, indulging, and sharing with us.)

It works for me until I enter a thread or refresh the page, though I run a browser with a few cookie blocking scripts and that.
