Just moved to a new flat, it has this kind of curtain rail or whatever that's called.

I want to block all the sun. Can I just get any random curtains from amazon for it (blinds tend to be pretty crap), or are there different types of hooks I should be aware of?

Most (all?) curtains will have a fabric band along the top that you slide curtain hooks into, and then hook them onto those sliders on your rail. Hooks are cheap, and annoying to make out of paperclips, so I suggest you get some when you get curtains.
