I have one last exam on the 8th and then I can move on to a postgraduate where I will hopefully never have to sit one of these fucking things ever again. Its the only exam I am sitting this year and for good reason as I'm terrible at them.

I have been trying to revise but in all honestly I have no fucking idea what I am doing and part of the reason for that is I'm panicking. I know I should have started months ago but I kept putting it off and now I'm fucked. Proper fucked.

Would you be able to provide some tips on how to revise? So far my own efforts in exams have ranged between lacklustre and outright failure (saved by my coursework grades) so I really need some help. So far I've written out post-it notes and tried to answer one of the questions from last years paper only to panic because I can't even find my words to answer the question.

Dr Pepper! What's the worst that could happen?!

You'll get a resit if you fail it, so don't worry too much. Concentrate on reading through the course material. Just read through powerpoints and course notes and then take notes if something in particular jumps out as needing further reading.

I spent the weekend revising for Microbiology having learned the last two units in the house my self due to illness and I passed it on Monday. I hadn't even studied before then unless you count doing the stuff I had missed. I just sat with a cup of tea and some biscuits and read. The subject is interesting, so I enjoy it and I'm motivated by the fact I don't want to have to repeat it.

If you have that mindset, of just reading the material over and letting yourself relax and absorb the information then I think you'll do well.

Don't actually do past papers. Read them, and if you know the answer compare it to the answer sheet to see how they want it worded. Doing past papers is a conditioning technique to deal with exam stress by thinking you'll run out of time, etc.

If you're really desperate, comparing past papers with the content of the course can be a good way to pick out the kind of things that may come up, and how they might appear.
