Lads, I've been watching Frasier for over a year now. First time watching it all in order rather than random episodes on Channel 4.
It's hard to describe but it's one of those programmes that fills a void. You know how it is when you have a show, something to watch on lunch or over dinner where you can for a time escape your troubles. I had the same with Twilight Zone, X-Files and VEEP. But I'm half way into the last season and I don't know what to watch next.
Do you two have any recommendations? Other than to get a family so I'm not eating sad dinners alone of course.
>>24810 If you like Frasier, I think you'll like old Seinfeld and all the recent Curb Your Enthusiasm. All three shows are quite British humour and unlike most US television comedies.
It was a spin-off of Cheers; have you ever watched Cheers? I would also recommend 30 Rock because I loved that, but it's not very similar and I think I'm only recommending it because 30 Rock had a throwaway joke about "Black Frasier" once.
Can't say that I'm taking to the sequel. The canned laughter and general production is grating, most of the characters (and extras) are annoying and the writing has none of the wit. It feels a lot more like I'm watching How I Met Your Mother.
The mum is alright, have her and Frasier share an apartment and it might work as an odd couple situation.

This is what I said. Make Freddie the baby's dad but he's away on safari/in the military/in prison/dead or whatever so Grandpa Frasier is forced to share a luxury apartment with a woman he has nothing in common with.
Also the dynamic of "successful son in his 40s who decides to let his dad move into his luxury apartment" is very different from "wealthy, controlling father in his 60s buys a building his 30 year old son lives in to force them to live together" and makes Frasier seem like a genuine cunt instead of a hapless but well-meaning guy. It's a bit like the difference between shots of Frasier (the character) posing in a tuxedo vs shots of what is obviously Kelsey Grammer (the actor) posing next to busts of historical figures.
Also Rodney's character isn't funny. It would have been a mindblowingly amazing cameo but I really can't see how they will actually stretch it out to him being a main character.
The second season of the reboot wasn't terrible. At least it found its feet near the end with the murder mystery even if not-Niles is still too bazinga.
