Maybe it's just a convenient way to write drama, but most of the films or television I get recommended have a really cynical view of humanity or they contain some form of trauma, usually involving horrific violence. Often the hero still wins, but it's either a Pyrrhic victory or they resolved the problem using even more effective violence. I like all that stuff as well, but lately I feel completely burned out on this sort of film.

Do you lads have any recommendations for more life-affirming viewing? I dont just mean good winning over evil or a general light-hearted tone, but the kind of story where reason and higher morality overcome baser instincts, and people figure out a situation using their brains or a bit of compassion.

tl;dr - I want to see films about smart and kind people solving problems.

Examples of the kind of thing I mean:
- 12 Angry Men
- Star Trek: The Next Generation
- To Kill a Mocking Bird
- Enemy Mine

Dunno m8. How about some 80s/early 90s comedies, such as

My Cousin Vinny.
The Dream Team (1989)
