I've never been, but I've been reading a lot about them. The general consensus I can find is that only people who have never been to them oppose them, whereas even the most skeptical who have been seem to give going once their blessing.
I probably wouldn't go on my own, but meet someone from the internet or real life first, and once getting to know them well enough, ask them to go with me.
I'm also a bit too shy to hook up online (only ever been after knowing someone for about 6 months that I've had sex, but it's been almost 3 years now without meeting anyone), so maybe once I'm actually naked and in a sauna, with a drink in me, I'll be easier.
I've read some advice, like 'wear sandals' because of varoocas and generally bad floor hygiene, and don't get in the hot tub because the other guy might not have cleaned up after his last BEEFY POZ LOAD, but I've also read that the majority are actually clean, because they're mostly married having a bit on the side, or they are drunk. Sometimes there are normal genuine guys too. And apparently, it's easy to spot the difference.
So do any of you guys have anything to add? Are UK Saunas different from the USA Bathhouses I've been reading about?
Or is it all just dirty old men with AIDS looking to breed some neg holes on swings?
>>1307 Some are alright, many are filthy, vile places. Stick to meeting people on grindr or something.
In Russia, Saunas are beautiful, clean places with bars, robes and disposable sandals. From my experience of UK male saunas, the floors are rank, the cabins/cubicles aren't cleaned, there are a lot of dirty old men and pozzers who will just not take the hint - though that was h20 Sauna in Manchester, others may be better.
The Basement has a pretty good reputation, and have decent establishments in Gran Canaria and the UK - if you're near Leeds or Manchester you should give them a go - might be more fetish-oriented though, I'm not sure.
Many saunas have days where students get in free, that's probably your best option if you decide to visit any.
And ALWAYS make sure condoms are used, no matter how 'clean' they look :P. "Straight" guys are often worse for STDs, married or not; many don't seem to appreciate the risks of anal sex so...
If you live near the north-east, come visit me ;).
Thanks for the response. I am further east than Leeds, but was looking at Plastic Ivy as the venue of choice, since AFAIK there are no saunas further east than that one, without going further to the north or south of where I am.
On a separate curiosity, I've been lurking the forums at breedingzone, and I have to admit I'm pretty much put off by the nihilistic attitude of the sauna visitors who post there. They even had a thread asking those who visited saunas who were negative what they thought their chances of becoming poz were, and it was about 70% accepting they were going to get pozzed up. One guy was a top who said he got pozzed because the guy he fucked already had BEEFY POZ LOADS in him at the time. One other guy from York openly admits to not telling his status. His XTube account is filled with comments from people calling him all sorts and blaming him for bad attitudes, but he doesn't even respond. I suspect his nearest saunas are also Leeds.
From further research, I'll concede the straight guys fallacy. It seems a big turn-on for straight guys is to have a bareback 'seed' in them when they have sex with their wife. I had no idea.
I know that breedingzone, and some of the other places I've been reading about this, might be biased to a certain vocal minority, but when it's strangers and anonymous, I have to assume that any one of them is the worst of them.
If I make a friend, I might ask them to go with me, just so I can have a tour of the venue and maybe experiment with exhibitionism, but I'm calling the whole thing off until then. Thanks but no thanks.
OP here. Turns out I bit the bullet and it was amazing. It looked like OP pic rather than the second pic. The staff member on the door took me to a corridor where he stopped and used his hands like a flight attendant to very quickly explain where each section was. Then I had a shower and headed to the dry heat room. When I left, there was a very fit hispanic man who had been waiting for me. I explained it was my first time and he said he knew. He showed me around properly, then took me to a room. We were having loads of fun, sucking and fucking (with condoms; he bit a hole in a condom and put it on me like a cockring as well) but I got dehydrated very quickly. He had water with him, and let me lay for 5-10 minutes and then we continued. We got into the fucking, but again I got spooked and needed more water, but he totally understood. I apologised and said I needed to go to the bar, and he said 'in this place, you don't ever need to say sorry'. We kissed for a bit and he was very grateful for the fun that we did have. I went for a drink in the communal area and read the paper. He walked past, scratching my head affectionately on his way, and was leaving. From where I was sitting, I could almost see the exit, and he blew me a kiss and a wink on his way out.
I went back in after my juice, and enjoyed the facilities for a bit. Another guy who looked under 30 and who also had defined abs started playing with me in the jacuzzi. He and another guy left together. They didn't wait for me, so I assumed they were off together. I walked around a bit more, then went back to where the rooms with the locks are (the cruising area). There was a young, also physically fit man there at a door, so I said hi and went in. I locked the door, and told him this was my first day in a gay sauna. He said it was his too. We then had loads of hugging, kissing and oral, ending in us both cumming. Then we both headed to the showers, where we cleaned off and said goodbye.
I then went to the dry room again, because I planned on leaving, but didn't want to quickly dry myself in a corridor and get dressed whilst still damp. I was on my own, when another smoking hot guy came in. It could have been jacuzzi guy again, but I wasn't sure. He said hi, and we got into conversation, since I said I was winding down at this point. He asked if I'd had any action, and if I had enjoyed my first time etc. I asked him about competitive saunas in the area, but he said he'd never been because this one had always satisfied him. I chose it due to good reviews, so I can agree on that.
In conclusion, everyone was really friendly, not in a touchy feely way, they left me alone unless approached, but were very understanding about my first time. Out of the guys I saw, there were 15-20 of them, but only one old guy, and maybe 2 guys over 40. Most looked late 20s/early30s, except the guy I got off with, who was about 20.
I'm definitely going to go again, maybe at a different time to see if I was lucky, but by all accounts, it is one of the best in the country.
>>1356 Does he mean someone pozzes up your arse and then you shoot a beefy poz load inside your lass? Even if he means beefy neg loads, I've never heard this sort of thing as being a common fantasy.
I'm a straight guy (albeit the kind of straight guy who looks at /y/) and it's a bit of a fantasy to get fucked in the arse by a man at the same time as banging my mrs. Not beefy poz loads though, just beefy average loads.
>>1358 >I'm a straight guy
>it's a bit of a fantasy to get fucked in the arse by a man
So tell me as I've seen similar statements before and I'm honestly not sure about this. Is there some subculture within the gay/bi online community where saying you consider yourself straight makes sense? Or are you just bi but don't like admitting it? Am I missing something else?
No hate here, you can call yourself whatever you want, I'm just trying to make sense of it.
That's not the way it works.
There's something there in the back of your head if you're having those thoughts you're not 100% straight.
Anyway, although I'm technically bi I despise that word, it's like saying your attraction is exactly 50:50. More impotantly it ignores any distinction between romantic attraction, and sexual attraction.
I want to do some bum stuff just to see what it's like. If I like it, I might be bi, but the male figure doesn't arouse me so I still wouldn't describe myself as bi.
