ALL OF MY MONEY.
Rockstar is the only company that can generate so much Buzz form a simple logo release.
|>>|| No. 9508
Trailer release on 2nd November? That's little over a week before the Skyrim release! Surely this must be a blatant attempt at sabotage on Skyrim's sales. Look at that, too, it's the fifth game in the series. Don't Bethesda have a trademark on the number five?
If I were Bethesda, I'd sue the shit out of Rockstar for this. It's only right.

|>>|| No. 9511
I hope it has a map the size of SA.
I got bored bloody fast on GTA4 despite fancy graphics.
|>>|| No. 9512
What? What? They aren't milking it for a series of games like they did GTA III? Oh wait I guess they did a couple. But they're already moving on? People are still raving about GTA IV!
|>>|| No. 9513
Nah it looks like the engraved decoration you get on dollar bills.
|>>|| No. 9518
I would have sex with the box if that were to happen.
Just think of it! All those tiny villages to drive to and destroy, fuck I'd have so much fun. It well never be though, no one will painstakingly recreate the entire of Britain and give it GTA Gameplay ;__;

I wanted to say "Real life will have to do, then!" but I just remembered that one of my favourite childhood games was using the character model cheat to make myself into a granny and walking around beating up black people.
I can't become a granny in real life.

The Getaway games did London well.
I always wnated on that took up the full lenght & bredth of the country though.
|>>|| No. 9521
Last game was sort of shit to be honest.
|>>|| No. 9522
I was thinking more along the lines of a shoot out in Birmingham but those villages would certainly be on my list as well.
|>>|| No. 9523
Unfortunately according to rumours on Kotaku this one is in San Andreas again; a leaked casting list has a plethora of Hollywood and hillbilly characters.
|>>|| No. 9525
Rockstar know how to do this shit.
Cue a week of endless speculation and theorising from all corners of the internet.
Come trailer day, their site crashes due to the endless traffic. Guarenteed million seller.
|>>|| No. 9527
If the trailer was released on the 11th of February, why hasn't anyone seen it?
|>>|| No. 9658
Tomorrow at 4pm lads.
Prepare for not being able to see it til 7 or so when they get their servers recovered from the overload.

And prepare to have an 80s song completely ruined by twits.
I really like that Astley song but I can't admit it without THOSE idiots.
|>>|| No. 9661
mental to think this game is being developed just 5 minutes up the road from me.
I've heard a few of the employees like to consume alcohol in a pub called the conan doyle, which is situated near the studio. Might pop in and threaten them with a Molotov cocktail, see if i can loosen some tongues. I'm sure they'll appreciate the irony.
|>>|| No. 9663
I could be wrong, but I think Rick Rolling is very rarely done these days because most of the videos on YouTube have a 30 second advert beforehand.
|>>|| No. 9664
My thoughts exactly.
It wasn't nearly as fun as San Andreas. I hope this new one sees the return of quad bikes / planes etc...
|>>|| No. 9680
I lol'd when I watched the count down go from 01 seconds to the pic attached.
Got it working, this looks good - more like San Andreas, golf buggies, planes, jetskis - big open areas.
|>>|| No. 9686
The numberplates say San ANdreas on them, so I expect the next trailer will show off another city
|>>|| No. 9691
Rockstar has a cycle that begun from GTA IV to current. They go from good game to bad game to good game.
GTA IV = bad
Red Dead Redemption = good
LA Noire = bad
If GTA V is there next game it'll be good but that means if Agent finally comes out after then it'll be bad.
|>>|| No. 9708
It wasn't nearly as fun as San Andreas.
Yahtzee called it pretty right when he said Saint Rows 2 > GTA IV ... imho
5 looks like the GTA I was hoping 4 would be.
|>>|| No. 9710
GTA IV wasn't a bad game, it was just wasn't up to the usual GTA standard.
|>>|| No. 9711
L.A noire wasn't really a rockstar game, they just published it.
They just went in a different direction. I enjoyed it as much as SA.
|>>|| No. 9714
I felt GTA IV was more of a dramatic title. The expansions feel so much more GTA-y it's unbelievable. None of this I AM UNHEPPY AFTER WAR IN HOME COUNTRY.
I'd give GTA IV maybe a 7/10 as it was enjoyable despite the soberness of most of it. If we were rating it as a new IP it'd get a 9/10.
High hopes for V.

Officially confirmed as being only Los Santos & surrounding countryside.
No full on S.A for you.
|>>|| No. 9723
It's not the same San Andreas as GTA:SA. Los Santos will be a proper city like Liberty in GTA IV instead of a tiny town. Remember San Andreas was originally a city rather than a state too, they just changed that so they could show off how big they can make their games. Doesn't mean this one will be smaller.
|>>|| No. 9724
The wind turbines and that oil driller are parts of the desert areas in SA. Plus some of the city scenes could be San Fierro.
Although it was strange they didn't show off Las Venturas.
|>>|| No. 9726
They issued a press release saying it was, as >>9720 said, "Los Santos & surrounding countryside". That's where the turbines and oil driller(?) were.
|>>|| No. 9729
Fuck that it isn't San Andreas without San Fierro and Las Venturas. I can't believe Rockstar have done this. San Andreas' biggest draw was the variety in environments.
|>>|| No. 9730
I think the whole 'surrounding countryside' thing is to give a variety of terrain. The trailer indicated that much. There just won't be 3 distinct cities this time, is what I assume they mean.
|>>|| No. 9731
When is the game actually out? Does it have a release date yet?
|>>|| No. 9736
360, PS3, PC
Potentially Vita, Wii U and Sucessors to 350 / PS3
|>>|| No. 9738
I doubt it will be that long until release. Or maybe I just hope it won't.
|>>|| No. 9745
The trailer looks rather nice, I wonder if GTA IV was more of a test then anything.
Either way I shall definitely be buying it, I'm due a game since I've decided not to buy BF3 or MW3. I just hope there is none of the mobile phone bullshit in it.
Normal cheats would be nice too, I haven't done more then 10 missions on any GTA since 2, I'd rather have a pigs off cheat once and just fuck about for hours instead of having to drag up a phone if you run a red light, let alone cross a bloody island.
|>>|| No. 9762
Apparently leaked shots of the maps, although they provide fuck all information.
|>>|| No. 9763
Oh you know apart from Las Venturas making a return despite Rockstar saying it wasn't going to be in GTAV.
If these images are real then LV will be DLC.

>The Getaway games did London well.
Except you couldn't Free Explore properly because the police were always smashing into you.
|>>|| No. 9802
They chase you even if you don't, because you're exploring as Marcus or whatever his name is.
|>>|| No. 10037
The one thing that annoyed me about SA was, IMO, it was a missed opportunity.
In the original GTA, LC was New York, VC was Miami, and SA was Dan Francisco.
They kept LC as based on New York, they kept VC as Miami AND set it in tge 80s which was the best decade they could have done it....but then with SA they made it a mix of a few well known West coast cities. When ideally it should have been just San Francisco and set in the 70s, which would have allowed for references to Bullit, Dirty Harry etc.
Don't get me wrong, SA was phenomenal but I wish they had done it as San Francisco in the 70s. Maybe if they ever do one with the 'Always Mentioned Never Seen' Carcer City, that can be the theme?
|>>|| No. 10039
Not to mention that Carcer City is in the same state as Liberty, so how it could possibly resemble San Fran is a bit puzzling.
|>>|| No. 13093
I hate to seem like "that lad" but I have it on good authority (by which I mean we're damn well over due) that we'll be getting our second trailer some time in the next month.
|>>|| No. 13098
>When ideally it should have been just San Francisco and set in the 70s, which would have allowed for references to Bullit, Dirty Harry etc.
That would have been cool. But this was at a time where they were working on Red Dead, right? Maybe one scowling Clint Eastwood figure was enough for the devs.
|>>|| No. 13099
They did say they'd get back to other games after the the Max Payne 3 promotion was over.
WHERE IS MY BULLY 2?
|>>|| No. 13139
24/05 is dawning, lads, which means a lot if you buy into that theory. Who thinks we're going to get some new info? I'm on the fence about the whole idea. It has been seven months after all...
|>>|| No. 13140
That long? Christ.
I'm still hoping for the reveal of San Fierro & Las Venturas.
LS & Surrounding areas can be as big as they want, but it just wont feel right if we're given a third of San Andreas.
|>>|| No. 13145
I really hope this expands on GTA4 in the same way VC and SA did on GTA3.
GTA4 was just a next gen GTA3 with a better story and graphics. Gameplay wise it was almost a total downgrade from San Andreas.
|>>|| No. 13146
Looking at the trailer seems to suggest the right direction.
I just hope the radio isn't shit.
|>>|| No. 13934
The beast is waking... slowly. Three more screenshots to come this week then the "table" on the V site will be full. I'm smelling another trailer countdown within the next few weeks.
|>>|| No. 13937
Surely it's going to get released alongside a StarCraft II expansion, which rather makes a mockery of your guarantee.
|>>|| No. 13940
So, what was the best one of the PS2 generation?
San Andreas for me, with the lowest on the scale being Vice City. I dont get the love for it really. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the music etc, but the city itself if mostly big empty nothing. Useless airport, huge useless beach, all flat, and only one road where you can get up any speed at all n the 2nd island.
|>>|| No. 13942
Definitely San Andreas for me, I spent a ridiculous amount of time playing it, to the point where I could tell you the entire soundtrack off the top of my head. The obvious Boyz n the Hood theme was the best thing ever as a teenager. Driving full speed around the countryside in an oil tanker or the monster truck listening to K-Rose amused me for way longer than it should have. Also, a lot of people moan about the leveling up, but as a massive RPG fan I loved it, I didn't even mind how limited it was. I was gutted when I played IV and they'd got rid of it.
I liked Vice City more than III, but I think it was just the soundtrack and because I liked Scarface.
IV is my least favorite, admittedly I haven't played the DLC and I've heard they FEEL more like GTA, but I got incredibly bored by the base game.
Can't wait for this, I really, really hope we get the whole of San Andreas, if not I hope they Include more countryside than city. The problem with setting it in San Andreas again is that us who played the original game want all the cites, no matter how big they make that one city it will still feel limited.
|>>|| No. 13945
Indeed. I've said all along that they'll reveal the entire map closer to launch. Surely they too realise that San Andreas is more than Los Santos.
|>>|| No. 13946
Oh fucking hell, it's beautiful.
Could this be San-An with IV graphics?! This is making me slightly horny.
|>>|| No. 13947
I used to take great pleasure in de-railing the trains and beating the pool shark up when I lost a game.
|>>|| No. 13949
I'm hoping for trains to be back and drivable. I used to love cruising around San Andreas. Hope they introduce a wider rail network this time too. With abandoned lines that go up into the mountains and shit so I can collapse bridges.
|>>|| No. 13950
Ahh the neverending "I want X back" or "I hope you can do Y". This touches on a larger issue though.
I feel the GTA series has become far too limited in it's scope recently. The reason it was such a success to begin with is because it offered unprecedented freedom- With the technology of the time, the simple ability to drive cars and shoot guns wherever and whenever you please felt like the world was your oyster.
By now it should be like a kind of uber-game, one genre to contain them all. Player agency should be the one and only focus of it's development; if I can think of something I should be able to do it, by virtue of the fact that all the elements are present, I just need to influence them in the right manner.
Instead, GTAIV was just a HD re-make of GTAII, and it felt badly behind the times for it. San Andreas was already making so much progress towards this sort of thing, way back in 2004, it really makes me wonder why they scrapped it all.
