1. This box is fully transparent.
2. Board-specific backgrounds don't appear on /*/ posts, with the exception of /emo/.
3. Posting password is doesn't save and so posts can't be deleted as a user (may be a user-side issue).
4. Mod buttons have gone.

Thanks. Yeah it's the last two I'm particularly looking at - believe it is a browser issue, but those are the ones I'm concentrating on.

Other lads have already posted all the bugs I experience, but just adding that I experience them too. Using Firefox on both desktop and mobile.

The password thing appears unique to desktop, fairly sure I've been able to delete posts alright from my phone.

Firefox, I assume it's the latest version and Windows 10.
The actual password might mean something to you, it carries on and then has what I believe is a password (A collection of letters and numbers)

Sometimes I click on a thread and it doesn't show the last 10-15 posts. Even if I click the "last 50 posts" it still doesn't show those last dozen or so posts. It does this on both my phone and my PC (Chrome on both).

I think I have fixes for (3) and (4) now. Just trying to figure out how to roll them out.

One interesting bug I never knew was there - you couldn't actually ever change your posting password. Fixing that too, and making it so that you can actually see it - will help with multiple devices.

That's a very difficult thing to do modm8 - (and yes, I am commenting on a deleted post, because we can both see them).

I am thinking deeply about the ban process though, because as you khow, we have a database of about 10 years+ of bans (comprising precisely 10582 bans) and some of those are starting to get in the way of real people.

I might publish some graphs one day - the early days, where we were open to a lot more countries, had a lot more bans. There are plenty of bans you don't see because of spam/faggotry but I would estimate the rate at less than one per day now.

Oh I definitely know the bans are much more sporadic than they used to be, I bet we were on 5 or 6 bans a day at least during the most populated years. I feel like now the bans are the occasional visitor not understanding how to conduct himself, and that one other lad, you know the one.

When you upload a pic and take one with the camera instead of choosing a pre-formatted image, brian borks the aspect ratio. I'm assuming it just doesn't preserve the aspect ratio of an image taken for the purpose of uploading rather than taken first and chosen from your gallery.

I was just having a teary because I assumed he knew me better than that and it broke my streak mate, I'd have probably banned me too. I'm over it now honest.

I've often thought the report page could have inline preview of the sentry entries related to that IP rather than a background window popping up so you can get a better idea of what is going on, as sometimes people will report a post just because they disagree with it rather than because it's against the rules and on further inspection that poster is an otherwise pretty good contributor or a mod.

Having the option to just click 1 day or Spam instead of typing in 86400 seconds or Spam every time would make the site easier to moderate on a tablet, if you're dabbling with the mod tools.

This does explain some of the slightly left-field accusations that have been made recently; if a mod has been over-tracking posts. Maybe look at /sentry/ less often, it's fairer if we only use it when we have to, puts us all on a more even keel.

I usually check sentry after a report if I can't discern why I should be banning it at face value and only for that IP (which is, I assume, it's purpose) but I don't use it otherwise. What accusations are you referring to, btw?

It seems like something worth stamping down on, especially if people are trying to use sentry to dox each other or out Americans and Nepal lads as used to happen back in the day, but if that has happened to anyone recently it's slipped through the cracks.

brian just deleted a post without redirecting me to the ban page. Mobile browsing and modding seems to be actively getting worse over time.

Probably a known issue, but Firefox apparently isn't saving my post password at all (I thought it was stored as a cookie, but it seems to be wanting to save it as a website password - like it was a password field in a form) as I can't delete a post even within a minute after making it.

So hiding threads isn't working either. From reading the entire thread this time it looks like it's a recent security change rather than a britfa-side code change that's causing these problems.

The only one that springs to mind would be the third party cookie blocking that was made standard recently. I know this site makes use of jquery (and grabs code from code.jquery.org) - if you're setting cookies from code that's been pulled from a thirty party domain then browsers should be blocking that now and that would certainly explain the current mess.

You might want to have a play around with hosting the jquery code locally and seeing if that doesn't fix the issue.

It is definitely security changes in browsers and not fucking around on our part - actually really like your jQuery suggestion, I will try that, thanks.

When I'm clicking last 50 posts of the big threads it's not showing me all of them. When I click view thread it's the same problem.

This is most apparent in the Seppo Civil War thread.

Are you sure it's not a cache issue? I have to refresh to make it work most of the time.

You are correct. Refreshing sorts it.

It is a caching issue but really it shouldn't exist. I don't know of any other website where I need to f5-reload a page when I revisit it in order to see the changes that have happened between visits (I vaguely remember it being a thing in the late 90s). It could probably be fixed with the addition of a Cache-control HTTP header or by making postspy trigger instantly when a thread is loaded before it settles into its usual routine.

Was going to post a link to the youtube video in question for humours effect but it seems that triggers an auto ban. Evidently this is a much more serious topic than I expected.

Probably at least 10 years. If you remember the insurgence of pisskidney, jizzcock, cretinous inchworms and apelike fists, then I'm sure your tedium will be enhanced.

Would be nice to have a nostalgia thread but gratuitous wanking like that isn't something I want to be seen doing.

Last time I posted ape-like fists someone thought I was being racist.

The one I don't miss is when everyone was constantly accused of having a teary.

Was teacock (like someone dipping their willy in a cup of tea) a thing here or is that some half remembered fragment of a fever dream I had?

It's all a bit blurry in my head tbh.

That was mumsnet wasn't it? Which also reminds me of the hacker lad who "hacked" mumsnet, pretended to be the admin and posted some shite on there. That was a laugh.

Maybe I just made up the teacock thing, entirely possible.
