This video is very interesting on the subject of pardons - something I suggest we're going to hear a lot more about towards the end of December.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/07/rupert-murdoch-owned-us-outlets-turn-on-trump-urging-him-to-concede-with-grace

>Multiple Rupert Murdoch-owned conservative media outlets in the United States have shifted their messaging in a seeming effort to warn readers and viewers that Donald Trump may well have lost the presidential election.

>The new messaging appears to be closely coordinated, and it includes an appeal to Trump to preserve his “legacy” by showing grace in defeat. The message is being carried on Fox News and in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post – all outlets avidly consumed by Trump himself, especially Fox.

Fox News turning on Trump?

Has hell frozen over?

Murdoch always wants to back the winner. He has no ideology to speak of, he just likes to be able to take credit for helping leaders to get elected so he can call in favours later.

I've watched more Fox News this past week than I ever have before1. It is fucking appalling. But it was noticable last night that the messaging had shifted to "Preserve the legacy, be proud of the achievements".

I think they'll want to be the first to call it - they went alone with the Arizona call, and I think the minute Biden gets something over a 30k vote lead in Pennsylvania, they'll do the same there.

It's obvious really. As >>91285 says, the one thing that Murdoch craves is relevancy - they have had that with Fox News/Trump the past four years, so they have to find a way to maintain that going forward - particularly, if as threatened, Trump launches some kind of pathetic competitor.

1 - Though I found out about the ScottEVest from the adverts, which I hate to admit I like.

Current right-wing meltdown fuel is AOC saying something about making note of who is and isn't in favour of the suspension of democracy and how that's actually a "hit list".

Normalcy achieved.

I owned one back in the Slashdot days - handy, but you do end up looking like a half-deflated Michelin man (if you don't already). Also if you get stop-and-searched, the copper will find your endless pockets funny, then really fucking annoying, then quite funny again.

Seems like wearing one you're just setting yourself up to forget about some sort of contraband and try to take it somewhere you shouldn't. I just had the normal amount of pockets and accidentally tried to smuggle a trowel into a shopping centre recently but got stopped with it at the detectors. 24 is too much.

I'm not just talking about 4chan, but I am absolutely speculating out my arse. Sometimes things are just interesting instead of right and wrong. I find this trend interesting and I'm mentioning it, because places like FB and Twitter have such a a huge influence over people's political opinions.

UKIP didn't get a single elected official in Westminister, yet are almost entirely responsible for the UK's exit from Europe. You can't necessarily dismiss fringe views in the current hell-scape that is the modern world.

Looking forward to seeing the Trump Presidential Library.

The symbolism of getting rid of Trump is making me feel genuinely optimistic we can do something similar here. Maybe a bording centrist can beat a populist. Looking forward to politics being boring again.

I want to believe they thought it was the Four Seasons hotel (I'm pretty sure Trump would have thought that when initially told) and then when they got there, thought they could style it out. I doubt we'll ever find out the truth.

Maybe they were pranked? Someone who booked the location has an excellent sense of humour? Or they're all just utter fuckwits.

Either way, I can't imagine in a million years that Trump took it calmly, given his penchant for exotic settings and decor.

I'd just say they're all phoning it in at this point. It's like if a company makes redundancies, do you ever expect those people to actually do anything in the notice period, knowing they're on the way out?

Someone on twitter pointed out that the press conference was about 20 minutes late, and the hotel and the landscaping place are around 20 minutes drive from each other.

That doesn't really prove anything at all, obviously, but it's fucking hilarious to think about. I could also imagine a staffer doing it deliberately, it's the sort of thing I would do if my rome was burning, might as well amuse myself.

Apparently Trump said it was going to be at the Four Seasons and tweeted that out, without bothering to wait to see if it was available, and rather than flip-flop like he's done already they found another place called "Four Seasons" and made out like it was the plan the whole time. No idea if they even booked it or just showed up at the place (which would have been closed at the time) and set up.

Please don't give in Mr Trump!
