I'm fine, thanks for asking.

Last time I connected to the IRC my proxy fell over while I was AFK and I never reconnected/replied after getting a message from Green I saw when I came back. I feel really guilty about this now. I've been posting here pretty much non-stop and I thought there were enough "tells" that people who knew me would recognise some of my posts, I guess not (which is a good thing really).
I'll pop in soon.

Not in this lifetime m8. Although if that did happen, at least it would be something to put on my CV that is computer related.

And there I am. The port number is 6697 it seems.

Why isn't irc promoted more heavily on the site, anyway? I quite like .gs and haven't lurked irc in years, but it was a major part of my yoof period and I was excited at the prospect of possibly having another channel.

I don't understand why anyone want try and combine a "forced anonymous" imageboard with a chat room with forced identities, it seems like an obvious contradiction. I've never bothered with it, but from the few occasions where drama from the IRC has spilled over onto the site, it appears to suffer from all the usual insipid cliquey shit, petty grudges and egos, that always characterised niche IRC channels (and frankly it's not like we're short on most of that here as is).

Similar things to what's on .gs, just in a slightly more personal format.

I visited a few times a few years ago. When people weren't idling, which appears to be the primary purpose of IRC these days, they were talking about stupid bullshit I had no interest in. Sort of alternating between 'I got mashed on ket in a field on Tuesday' and the intricacies of assembly languages. Whenever I tentatively said something it was completely ignored. Totally got the sense I didn't belong, and haven't been back since. As >>13202 says whenever IRC-related stuff crops up on the site it serves as a reminder I made the right choice not to invest any of my time in it.

Honestly that probably covers 99% of everything I ever said on IRC during my tenure there. Quoted for self loathing mirth.

Not sure how it happened, but when I loaded star, YouTube videos had swapped themselves around. >>/lit/6101 was the music video of the xx that someone else posted, >>/pol/64696 was the trans voice operation video from /iq/, and likewise >>/iq/53723 was Russell Brand (which looked amusing). I thought a mod was playing silly buggers but when I did a hard refresh everything corrected itself.

Is this probably a client-side error?

Download an IRC client/browser plugin. Pick a cool nickname that will make people think you're awesome, like xXHarlequinxXxJesusXx.

Join server: /server irc.britfa.gs:8097

When on server, join channel: /join #britfa.gs

Now you can ask the mods questions about how they are, whenever you want! Don't do this.

Lads. It's almost 3AM. It is time to have a teary and a drink while getting mad at insignificant things. Reduce my ban length please lads (and lass). A month is too long for me. I only sleep 3 hours a day. That leaves 630 hours I could be spending on .gs.

We've got a few "lunatics in the asylum", to quote purple, and we need to protect other users from that as best we can which in this case meant banning you, at least temporarily. If you can still get on the server use the /msg command to contact a shape-shifting reptilian and we'll have a chat about it.

Working .gif thumbnails is actually a legacy feature, it was removed although I can't remember why.

The priorities at the minute as far as I'm aware are sorting out HTTPS and YT embeds, maybe updating the mobile site, but for what it's worth to >>13415 I've seen maroon testing webm functionality recently. The likes of 4chan and 420chan have several people working on codes, whereas we have one guy with a wife and a couple of kids and no time and another guy with some time, but no motivation.

When it does get updated, it'll all get done at once when one or both of our admins get either time or the motivation to do so. You just have to be patient. Nothing is fundamentally broken at the minute, unless anyone want to mention something, so just bear with us.

On that subject, sometimes stuff breaks and you don't bother telling us for some reason so if you do see something make a thread about it or bump an old one.
