The board is slowly dying, I suggest we advertise on krautchan and 4chans /int/ to garner some fresh blood.

Thoughts?

I've noticed that people who dislike gs for one reason or another often claim that it's dying, and have done so for the last five years. Aside from krautchan, I definitely saw that sentiment repeated on both furfa.gs and the boards at crackyhouse.com.

The boards aren't dying, they've been as active as they ever were as far as I'm concerned, barring some significant event which warrants a 2000 post thread.

The only reason you would suggest this is because you are relatively new to the boards, fresh off the boat from a more active chan.

I have some unfortunate news, mate. We like it this way, it is comfortable and the atmosphere is one of community most of the time. I like knowing that I could reply to a thread on a friday, go away for the weekend, and the thread still be there on the Monday with perhaps a few replies and a cunt off to read and so does the majority of the userbase. The complainers are a vocal minority.

If you are worried about content dropping off then make a thread and get discussion going. I remember one Monday afternoon years ago I hadn't seen a post in 12 or so hours so I made a thread about a camping trip I took to the beach that weekend where I saw loads of mormons and it was weird and I wanted to have a chat about it. That thread spawned one of our most beloved cunts, CrabKiller.

Be the change you want to see in the world, lad. If you want .gs to be more like KC or 4chan why not just browse KC or 4chan? If you think they are shit, why would you want .gs to be more like them? Go away and learn how to think.

I would agree with the OP that the boards have been pretty toss lately, but I would also agree with you that the onus is on ourselves to make good threads. Unfortunately my life is so utterly mundane I have nothing to make a thread about.

What a beautiful picture, bristling with touches of genius. For example, even though the fist of the man in front is stationary, the viewer is left with no doubt that he is performing the "wanker" hand gesture and not simply raising his fist in a threatening manner. Truly the work of a talented artist and mastermind.

You don't know what you are talking about, the place has survived fine without your help over the years.

All that will happen is the vast majority of people who like to visit .gs because it isn't like other imageboards, you know the people who make it good, will leave and go elsewhere.

purple knows this and to prevent it he'll just up the difficulty settings and start banning people and deleting threads.

Not the person you're replying to, but I'm suddenly on his side. Some of us use this place more as a comfy local than as a place to be stupid (though we still do that sometimes as well) and regard bans as the equivalent of the landlord having to have a word: it may well happen one or twice, but it's something to be avoided if at all possible, because unless it's obviously a comedy ban it means you've breached the social code of a beloved social space. Having to suddenly watch our language and lose the trust and benevolent latitude of the staff because a bunch of teenage yobs have come along and caused trouble is an ugly thought, and would indeed change the tone of the place for the worse. It may well drive many of us away until the fuss has died down (and I suspect any publicans lurking would back my suspicion that if the locals leave they don't all come back).

Don't the locals ever enjoy watching the yobs get kicked out en masse? Your metaphor only goes so far though. The locals aren't going to have to watch their language any more than they ever did. Even if they do get caught up in the crowd the bouncer is ejecting, unlike the crowd they know the back door that'll let them in to the lock-up.

I'm glad this discussion reached a positive end because my hatred for all of you was swelling in this thread like a dog's knot until the last few posts.

On the one hand I'd like to apologise for my part in raising your ire earlier in the thread, but on the other hand I'll never forgive you for inspring the phrase 'rage-knotting' to form in my mind, and the struggle against allowing a mental image to form that's inevtiably going to fail and lead to months of nightmares...

One does not simply knot into rage-knot.

I can feel those heavy red letters on my back as I press submit.

To be banned for such a valiant post is surely no ban at all. Let none amongst us forget your sacrifice on this day.

I too can hear the bell tolling, but whom does it toll for?

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.
