I really don't like it when people refer to other people at large as "humans" in a non-scientific context. The number of times I've seen people posting things like "Ugh, humans suck" online.
Sage because I know the solution is to just know less shit people.
It's clearly a language device to demonstrate their disenfranchisement with wider society. The essence of it is to say "not only do I not enjoy the company of people, but I am struggling to reconcile that I am the same species as they are".
In summary, OP, your distaste for the creative use of English (creativity not being absolute) is far more offensive to myself, and all the people who are presently agreeing with me. Isn't it, everyone else?
