Has anybody tried these legal highs yet? I tried the legal cannabis substitute "Dutchy" for the first time yesterday, and fuck me is it strong.
Now, I am an experienced drug user in his mid thirties and this stuff simply blew my fucking head off after just half a roll-ups worth. The high is definitely very close to actual bud, but there is a distinct synthetic-ness to it and includes a bit of paranoia. I have overcome this effect though by using just a tiny tiny pinch of the stuff.
IMO this is what kills the enjoyment for me as I like to roll a packed spliff and enjoy the flavour of a nice bit of Skunk, and with this, that is just not possible. If you were to smoke a whole packed joint of this shit you would be on another planet. I just cannot believe that this shit is a legal alternative to "illegal" and "dangerous" cannabis and is sold to novice drug users!
Because I was out and happened to be in an unfamiliar area whilst wanting to smoke some weed. I had had a couple of drinks and happened across a head shop so I thought to myself, why not, let's try this stuff out.
I have already said in my OP that I would prefer proper weed.
It's good too know about your experience with that specific blend.
I have dabbled in various RCs myself and know how potent many can be. As a word of advice to anyone thinking of doing the same, I believe it's extremely important to research as much as possible about these chemicals online first. Some can be fatal at reasonably low dosages.
IMO there is greater risk from the branded RCs sold at headshops. Unless they list all the compounds included on the packet, then no one has any idea what is them. They are essentially glitzy packets of fuck knows what.
I believe many people come undone by these types of products. Of course, buying RCs online is still full of risk, but at least you should be able to research vital information (dosing, interactions, trainwrecks and glowing experiences) on the desired compound before deciding whether you want to play the role of a human guinea pig or not.
I wasn't having a go at you, I just mean in a general market sense, I don't understand why people risk using this sort of stuff on any profitable scale compared to weed. It can be really nasty stuff, the only "legal highs" or RCs that tend to be any good are the psychedelics anyway.
Please excuse it being Vice, but I feel all users of synthetic cannabinoids should see this. Having seen a friend become addicted to this crap myself and heard the tales of psychotic episodes experienced by the patients at another friend's drug rehabilitaton unit, I'm increasingly worried about the popularity of Spice and its ilk.
I've tried a few of the powders, and they're usually alright, but I've heard nothing but horror stories about the synthetic cannabis. My mate is so suggestible after smoking it for years that you can get him to do pretty much anything and as a result he is waiting to stand trail at the moment for having sex with a minor and it being caught on tape. He didn't object to any of it, because he was told it "would be fine".
They are also highly addictive and you can form a physical dependence for it, whereas weed doesn't really work like that.
I'm not sure what else I can add to this but yes they do fuck you up. Me and the lads tried doing dutchy in a bong to see what would happen and we ended up having to spend a good half hour focusing on staying alive.
I suppose this is the general problem with weed strains getting stronger and stronger taken to its logical extreme and it comes with a definite hangover effect which I would add typifies the experience of every legal high I have tried tipping them into the 'not worth it' category. Really the government should take a look at this and ponder whether deregulation might be the better alternative.
Do not go out and buy this thinking you roll a normal joint with it. I made the mistake of putting far too much in on the first time, and this felt like hell on earth, especially in the packed surroundings of Soho in central London with all the people milling around.
I have only just now finished the whole gram packet and can safely say that you need only a pinch of the stuff in a roll up and you are stoned out of your box for hours. Less really is more with this kind of thing.
>>7711 You're certainly not the first to have this reaction. I gave a bit of my synthetic cannabinoid of choice to a friend and made it as clear as possible that they needed to really treat it with care. Instead they got pissed, smoked a big fat bowl of it in one go and had some kind of hellish acid flashback-style nightmare trip. You really do only need a pinch of these herbal mixtures, in my experience.
By the way, if you've gone through a gram in a couple of days, that seems quite quick. Be careful with the synthetics as they can be peculiarly addictive - withdrawal symptoms and such. You can find more online. Obviously what you put in your body and how much/how often is your business, but at least ensure you go in with an understanding of the potential risks.
I've recently stopped smoking synthetics altogether; even though I found one I liked, after a couple of months of smoking a few spliffs a night I got to the point where I could no longer deny that my memory, vocabulary and clarity of thought had all been negatively affected. Even though I'd been smoking a tiny amount per evening, during the first few "off" nights I found it remarkably hard to get to sleep. I have no plans to buy any more.
These synthetic cannabinoids are incredibly potent and highly selective in their effect. I think they should be regarded as a completely different type of drug to cannabis.
Well, to add to the thread I have just tried a different brand of this stuff as I still could not get any weed.
The stuff I tried this time is called "Damnesia". It has a fake aroma added to it that is reminiscent of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, and is comparable in strength to the other stuff I tried. Only thing with this one is that it is much, much more sedating. As in after I have had a roll up of the stuff I just want to sleep.
Again, only a pinch is required and the stuff is very strong. Less paranoia with this one, though.
