Apologies if this isn't suitable for /eco/, but can we get a nature video thread going?

On a side note, I find a lot of the newer BBC docs a little too dramatic. There are too many sweeping vistas accompanied by epic musical scores, and far too many self aggrandizing 'behind the scenes' sequences.

Like anything with Brian Cox, you mean?
I am sure he just stands on the summit of a mountain to say a couple of lines about "beauty", then goes to a desert to make specious sand/universe analogies which make no sense at all. I have learnt nothing from his docus, it's just music, ott visuals and terrible corny lines.

We're running the risk of turning this into a /101/ thread, but while we're on the subject: could they please stop adding completely made-up sound effects (OP's video happens to be a good example, interesting though it was otherwise)?

>>2005 I was thinking more of the BBC wildlife documentaries, like Earth or Frozen Planet. Nature is interesting enough without being turned into a Hollywood movie.

It's not quite as bad as the American docs which turn everything into a Michael Bay movie. Everything has to be a huge built up confrontation between THE DEADLIEST BEE IN THE WORLD and THE FASTEST GAZELLE IN THE SAVANNAH or some bollocks.

Right lads, time to take this onto a whole new direction. One wasp versus 20 fire ants, who wins the battle?

>>2137 I've eaten penis fish (in Korea, where it's called Dog's Cock). It's like really chewy foreskin.

It doesn't have any organs so I was never sure if it was actually a fish.

So in Korea, the country renowned for being a place they eat dog, you went into the local market and saw a sign saying "Fresh Dog's Cock" next to a selection of meats that look like a dog's cock, and then the racist stallowner said to you "Don't worry, it's a fish".

You've been taken for a ride lad.
