And other such nonesense. There's crap all over the place and occassionally I'm in the mood to pick it up. I'm quite good at doing it by hand, but there must be tools that help. I can't quite afford to try all options, but a picker seems to be standard. But for bin bags, there are so many options!
Is a belt hoop worth it or is a bag hoop enough? Do you pick up shit to bin it?
These dudes use long metal tongs to pick litter from the street and put it into a basket on their back. Looks a hell of a lot better than a high vis and a plastic grabber but it could be mistaken for a weapon.
>Do you pick up shit to bin it?
Not really, though I thank the people I rarely see doing it. The activity feels a bit embarrassing to be honest.
Actual pickers are terrible for a few reasons, they're mass-produced shite intended for volunteer groups to buy in bulk with little consideration for how effective and easy to use they are. You want a pond grabber, B&Q do those black and yellow ones.
>>3017 To pick it up (I'll wear suitable gloves) is easy, carrying the stuff is the issue.g
I normally pick up a plastic bag and use it as a bin bag, most of the time its enough. But in some areas I'd just sock the people I just want to pick up incidental waste. Belt hoop?
>>3018 >To pick it up (I'll wear suitable gloves) is easy,
You'll do your back in. Pond grabber, honestly. Agile enough to pull trodden-in bottle caps from dry summer soil and strong enough to pull out sodden sheets of tarp from wet muck without tearing them. Keeps your hands clean so you can smoke or touch your face or eat without gloving/degloving. Keep in mind if you're going the gloves route you'll need another bag to keep them in to stop whatever horrible shit they've touched from touching your other belongings. Pond grabber you can just hold the shaft and handle.
I never used a hoop but they do make sense. I'd go for a handheld one, or one you can detach from your belt and easily hold. Having it stuck at waist height and banging against your ankles will be awkward.
